I've found a good set of lists of horror movies I'm plodding through but I could use more horror podcast recommendations.
1) Audio Drama types preferred (Single Person Narration puts me to sleep)
2) Non-comedy
3) Non-Actual Play
I haven't seen Stranger Things since Season 1. Did the producers look at the fan reaction to Barb and just decide to have her go upstairs like Chuck Cunningham? The preview stuff of season 5 seems like everyone else has died and come back...

So I usually do some baked confectionaries for people for Christmas. Last year it was those pistachio kataifi chocolates. Before that I did a peach cobbler krispie treat thing. I used to do stollens and have done lokum/Turkish delight. Are there any hot flavors or desserts this year as an off point?

I'm watching a video on the hair by Crissy situation (don't ask. It's TikTok) and this one person asks for her extensions and hair color to give "old money." And I've heard The Kids say old money and I don't know where this came from cause Jessica Rabbit Red Horse Girl length extensions are not Old$

If you don't like Wil Stancil, you should block him. Same thing with any company or person you don't want to engage with. Getting angry about it IS engaging. If you don't like the Wicked novel, you don't need to swan into the comments to tell everyone. Same thing with pie. +

This feels related to the "Gossip is how women would discuss men to be wary of and hating it is misogynistic" discussions that feel like there's ... a shift I can't quite put my finger on that's less about changing behavior and more about labelling our behavior as The Good Behavior?
“Bullying” is bad by definition. It’s not a value neutral tool to be deployed positively toward good ends. It’s so fucked up that people want so badly to reclaim this thing, and are so eager to do it that they want to brand things that aren’t bullying as bullying.
"Some people deserve to be bullied" is always wild to see because it's so deliberately childish as to make it difficult to imagine the person saying it has the moral capacity of an adult human being.

This is beside the point, or maybe it's not, but as red-green color blind person, this chart makes NO sense.

You know, i can't think of any book I didn't like so much that I feel the need to swan into the comments of people talking about said book to inform everyone that It's Actually Bad.

One thing I think that both the book of Wicked kinda sorta maybe fails at but then the musical just falls on it's feet (ha?) with is the fundamental question of Why Does The WWW Want The Silver Shoes?
In the original Oz book, where Glinda ISN'T in Munchkinland, that's an easily answered question.+
my friends and i just watched Wicked Part 1, i had never seen the musical or read the book but i was really into Oz as a kid and im probably going to spend the rest of the night nitpicking the setting

Just got back from Wicked Part Two and ... Honestly my biggest issue and this is an issue with the stage show, is Boq and his treatment and also everything that goes around that entire plotline

Has anyone done a viral "being annoyed with speakerphones in public is colonialism" take or can I call dibs?

Morning thoughts while sitting at the airport.
1) Every airport has multiple coffee places. Usually none have lines but Starbucks will have one snaking down the terminal.
2) I'm not sure how Keith Haring became the defacto art representation of NYC the way Warhol was for a while.

I read Wicked before the musical even made it to Broadway, and I'm always... Fascinated? at the idea that the musical is just so much better than the book. The changes are SOOOO different that they are two wildly different stories based and I wish more people would just be ok with that.
I fell down a hole of "people who love wicked and picked up the book thinking it was going to be a fluffy fantasy romance story"
😂😂😂😂

I adored that book for a long time and was shocked when they made it into a family friendly musical.

It's dark and satirical and wonderful.

There was a group of people at a local bakery all wearing elaborate lolita fashion outfits (is there a better term for this... asking for .. me and the internet) and they all looked like they were having a wonderful time!! (and it's a damn good bakery, too! I had some strudel there last night)

I'm sorry to the anime avatar mutuals I have but I just replied to an anime avatar I have no real mutuals with and I regret every second of it.

The biggest disappointment for a little nerdy theater gay is finding out that Kiss of the Spider Woman isn't about Lolth or Shelob or Ungoliant.

Actually, (shut up my brain is braining today), related to that, there's an argument going on where
1) Student are saying professors give them deadlines but don't have a deadline to get their papers back
2) Professors are saying, separately, that students are failing open book tests.+
I'm not entirely sure how that whole trend turned from Doritos and Mountain Dew to some idea that the Victorian age (or the Medieval period which is even worse) was somehow purer or something. Open the schools or something.
November 23, 2025 at 2:19 PM
In another Dispatch from the Worst Social Media App except for all the others, someone tried to make a post about what things in modern NYC would kill a Victorian child and, among other things, included the subway system, and everyone in the comments pointed out that the Victorians invented that.

I will say that one small difference on Wegovy is that it's harder to eat until I hurt. I ordered an apple strudel before the table next to me sat down and I'm still picking at mine and might actually be full. Earlier today I ordered a chicken roll and could only eat half+

This feels apropos to @loudpenitent.bsky.social recent thread on Hazbin hotel and also dovetails into @meakoopa.bsky.social original podcast about Paradise Lost where we often treat Hell like a party and not punishment. To the point where we've lost the meaning of actively choosing hell DESPITE that

you: haha what a nice work of fiction. why do we even have armies again anyway

There's grass outside.
I suggest we all go touch it.
I know it's cold and dark but we'll feel better, so bundle up first.
