Same thing with the genocide. Every major news story leads to this. Which is... not great.
one lesser awful thing about the Epstein files is that genuine crimes against a huge number of children are being morphed into fuel for the influencer industrial complex who don't care about truth or accuracy and just want grist for the content mills

This struck me too. As Anne Applebaum doesn’t mention, she wrote a classic history of the Gulag.
The CBS investigation portrays a modern concentration camp, similar to the Soviet GULAG (like CECOT, an acronym): sadistic guards, 24 hour lighting, isolation cells.
Americans once opposed this inhumane system.
The Trump administration sent innocent people there to suffer.

Suggestion regarding Trump-Epstein:

Don't focus on finding a smoking gun. There's already so much smoke. Most unconvinced by already-public evidence are cultists who'll deny forever (or like it).

The goals should be truth, justice for victims, and an appalled scandal drumbeat that never goes away.

It’s not enough to beat MAGA at the ballot box, these criminals need held accountable to ensure this will never happen again.

Anyone asking for our vote needs to commit to prosecuting Trump and his cadre of corrupt conspirators for their crimes.

Neither were the Nazis that’s why they had lost the elections leading up to the take over and the only way Hitler took power was manufacturing violence and unpredictability

Nazis don’t need to be competent when the institutions hand over the power they need willingly all they need is time
The fascists certainly aren't very good at this, are they

The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

Confirmed: House Democratic leaders have decided to use a stock trading ban bill as a campaign issue rather than actually pass something that had the GOP support to advance.
Jeffries' team is actively discouraging participation in the bipartisan bill and warning outside groups too.

A bipartisan solution was gaining momentum, but the House Democratic leader just issued his own bill that will prevent consensus.

Failure to recognize this moment as part of the centuries long battle against white supremacist oppression is a dangerous denial, and a gift to the American fascist project. @sifill.bsky.social is right on.

If the Democratic Party actually released an autopsy from 2024 we’d actually find out where all the money went, how billions were set on fire, and maybe find out which popular podcasts and liberal voices and personalities are being paid by the party.

Bill Clinton is so irrelevant and forgotten that when you say “Clinton” people think of Hillary. Those who remember him do so for moving the party to the right: NAFTA, DOMA, and killing welfare. But apparently he lives rent free in Trump’s mind.
I think Republicans are overestimating liberals' emotional attachment to Bill Clinton.

There's no such thing as accountability in the Democratic Party.

It's the most 'fail upwards' institution in our society and that is saying a lot. But when "failing" actually means taking a dive so big money can stay dominant, you've actually done your real job well and will be rewarded.

- Fight hunger by fully funding SNAP
- House every person living in homeless shelters
