The right-wing has been priming Americans to think of population wide gains in freedom and equality as potentially ill-gotten; a theft against those who are already living with a full suite of rights. It's why attacks on DEI work. The Dems/the left must emphasize that this is a theft of Civil Rights
It's also notable how manufactured this whole panic has been. DEI can be a little silly but it's been a fixture at American corporations since the 1990s. The only reason we're all talking about it constantly is that right-wing media decided to pretend it was left-wing tyranny.

Dems can keep blaming their losses on movements like "Uncommitted," but it's the moral rot of their iconic leaders that does the most broad and long-lasting damage.

ChatGPT is less an introduction of a new tool to enhance institutional performance, and more an infiltration of institutions by nefarious actors, in an effort to diminish them. Either way, “it’s here, so use it” is morally vacuous reasoning.

The more profane and blasphemous the shitheads running this country, the more they need to brandish their Christian bona fides via the sorts of activities @marisakabas.bsky.social documents here.
“There is a difference between being surrounded by a religion & having it foisted upon you. The efforts of the Trump administration are the latter, creating uncomfortable & unsafe working conditions for federal employees who either practice a religion that is not Christianity—or no religion at all.”
RFK Jr. is very worried about anti-Christian bias at HHS...under Biden
Employees received a survey Monday asking them to rat on each other.

What Hegseth has, and most people who serve absolutely do not, is bloodlust. He thinks there’s something inherently cool about getting to kill people. Dems must understand, as an existential matter, that this can’t be allowed to fester.

This analysis is loathsome, yes, but deeply saddening as well. Yet another generation being led by its elders to doubt the horror they feel at witnessing a genocide. As if revulsion toward war crimes and wanton murder is not completely natural, but rather something to be suspicious of. It's tragic.

Planned, but this is also just the Conservative movement running on automatic. Without their frauds and manipulations, without their targets, without their bigotries and snot-nosed grievances, what would they have? Nothing. This is their plan because it’s their existence.
It was definitely planned, this is exactly how they do it every time. It's the Libs of TikTok faux outrage pipeline
i’m genuinely so convinced all of this has been a planned operation by the student and her mother (who is commenting on this publicly, and associated closely with the republican party), and big far right propaganda account going all in on it. this is designed to oust trans people from public life

It's one crisis after another in America, but it doesn't have to be this way. If we're truly concerned with liberation and the pursuit of individual and collective well-being, white conservatism is a destabilizing force, period. This has to be broadly understood, accepted, and dealt with.
Given the way white conservative lawlessness forms a *defining feature* of what has been called democracy in the U.S., something we desperately need coming out of this current crisis is a body of history more directly critical of the state in the U.S., esp pre-1960s.

Presupposing that immigration presents a threat, as opposed to it being an integral part of our freedoms, reinforces the worst in us, mainly fear and suspicion of one another. It doesn’t matter how noble sounding the solutions or intent; you are funneling good will toward bad.
The problem with center-left parties embracing xenophobic politics is that they are a race to the bottom. There is no point at which the racists that you are pandering to will be okay with the level of immigration. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/27/w...

Destroying Amazon while restoring the Amazon would provide nice symmetrical justice though.
It’s so wild how the wealthy are destroying the Amazon that potentially has the cure for all the cancers in favor of an Amazon that’s creating new types of cancers

Taking cars out of cities, pedestrianizing more areas, and providing quality public transportation yield positive, easy to feel dividends quickly (the drop in noise and traffic tension alone can be transformative for the collective mood). Go at it hard, and make sure people know why life got better.
This is why @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social needs to go all in on street safety, bike lanes, bus lanes, pedestrians plazas and more. The Post – and the Right in general – is going to call anything he does a “war on drivers” no matter what, so why not just do what’s right and go for it?

This is the decimation of truth, in the sense that the acquisition and the spread of new knowledge are being kneecapped, and also the fracturing of camaraderie and spirit, in the sense that fewer people will connect over such pursuits. Simply evil.
Nearly every mechanism that made my career possible—Ford, NSF, Harvard BiGS—is gone or on the way to the chopping block.
This means NSF dissertation improvement grants in the social sciences are simply...not happening.
