It's remarkable that Trump's claim that there are no constraints on his power other than his "own morality"--that he thinks he can govern as a dictator--proved to be a 1-day story, with no follow-up coverage in the New York Times, to whom he said this, or, as far as I can tell, any other newspaper.

This is a truly fascinating phenomenon. When people say race is constructed, this is what they mean. Whiteness is a slur in the mouths of people who espouse white supremacist ideas *if* it is paired with “liberal” “woman” “urban” “pronouns” etc. It is an incredible piece of racecraft juijitsu.

There’s a compelling case that as much as Canada wanted it, LA needed it.
Fires. The military occupation. The ongoing paramilitary occupation. Repeated attacks on peaceful demonstrations by local cops. Continued hardships as the studios don't do more production in the city. Los Angeles is struggling this year. This win means a lot.
Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.
