I do sympathise with this thought, really I do, the "*now* you get it?" responses absolutely put a barrier up against future people changing their minds, but also I have to look at the last decade and think "none of this was a deal breaker - *none* of it - until now"
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

Reminded of the post-9/11 tech surge at airports, where billions were spent on unproven new technology. We could've also just hired more screeners and given them shorter shifts to be more alert, but that would actually involve treating people well.
