Old-ass trans woman from the bad old days. Work as a professional trauma dumpster. Have a dog for when I'm sad and a bsky for when I'm pissed off.

Won't post my face, my hometown or my employer.

I cannot stress enough, if you are the parent of a trans kid, you need to be finding a way to leave the United States. It will probably take a year or two to make it work and you may not have that long.
The ASPS has come out against trans youth surgical care.

The AMA then endorsed the ASPS.

Meanwhile, WPATH's president-elect testified on behalf of a detransitioner who won their case.

And hospitals capitulate to Trump.

I write my indictment of the American medical system on trans youth care.
The Cowardice Of American Medicine On Trans Youth Care
After capitulation by hospitals across the country, the ASPS and AMA have both thrown trans kids under the bus on surgical care.

#alaskasky I'm reading the text of HB292 which mandates insurance coverage for PANDAS. I'm struggling to understand because PANDAS is real but has been sucked into the "cure for autism" extended universe and I imagine there is some sketchy provider pushing this bill? Context, anyone?

They never came for Martin Niemoller
Not like they came for the Communists and Jews
He was a Nazi party member and an anti-Semite, imprisoned during the war but released at the end
He died in 1984 at the age of 92

I think we're probably a week from "those who make mass deportation impossible make slavery inevitable"

No media outside of Kansas has picked up on the fact that the state just enacted a de facto public ban and papers-please act against trans people, and they won't, because trans people are only newsworthy if it furthers our dehumanization.
Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.

Walter Benjamin asked me once in Paris during his emigration, when I was still returning to Germany sporadically, whether there were really enough torturers back there to carry out the orders of the Nazis. There were enough.

How is this not the "pundits fallacy" Morris spent last year debunking?

I stand by my belief that Trump was elected because people want to see "blood and helpless tears" as Mark Ames put it. They will adopt and defend any "policy" that keeps the show running and their friends cry-laugh-emojiing.
I will repeat: It is not obvious, based on the data, that campaigning on the economy in Nov would be significantly more effective than campaigning on immigration. Gov. policy is dramatically out of step with the public on immigration/deportations, and executive overreach is a potent motivator

"Chaos agent" battle patches when?
Emmer: "The people you're seeing in these videos, the vast majority of them I do not believe are from Minnesota. These are organized chaos agents, paid agitators. The vast majority of Minnesotans that are talking to me appreciate that law enforcement has arrived, and they are happy they're there."

I cannot imagine Alaska without the Islanders, Russians, Filipinos, Koreans, Natives and everyone else. We come from everywhere. Our state second language is Spanish just like yours. We are 58% non-hispanic white like the US as a whole.

Keep your frontier fantasies down south.

Sigh

You know who could stop this? NATO could destroy Washington DC with SLBMs and establish and occupying force in every commercial hub in the US.

No?

But you want to shame me, a middle-aged trans woman, to physically impede the US military and police system and succeed at it.

Interesting.
Americans don't have to watch.

There is somebody to step in: Americans.

There are 341 million of you. Even if we subtract the 77 million who voted for him, you have way more than enough people to overthrow the regime.

Stop being victims and take action.

I'm going to predict it's something really unthinkably weird, like there was a fistfight and half the cabinet got fired, or France closed its airspace, and we won't find out till someone leaks it in a memoir.

I'm also going to sleep now.

Leaving out the christian fascism, I am absolutely stunned that these clowns think a one-time payment of $2500 "under 30 bonus" would convince anyone to get married sooner if they didn't already want to. And a $5k wedding grant seems like a hilarious perverse incentive to remarry often.
The Heritage Foundation is urging the Trump administration to fund church-run “marriage bootcamps,” with cash bonuses for heterosexual marriage and penalties for nontraditional families, extending Project 2025 beyond government and into Americans’ private lives.

Yes Canada is very large and would be impossible to occupy militarily and yes, the US is a big target for insurgent tactics. What this misses, though, is the extent to which modern "warfare" has become essentially serial assassination, with all other operations just maximizing collateral damage.
"Canada does not have the number of military personnel or the sophisticated equipment needed to fend off a conventional American attack. So the military envisions unconventional warfare in which small groups of irregular military or armed civilians would resort to ambushes, sabotage, drone warfare…"
Military models Canadian response to hypothetical American invasion
Armed Forces envision insurgency tactics like those used by Afghan mujahedeen, sources say. But officials and experts stress a U.S. operation is unlikely, and the scenarios are conceptual
