GOOD NEWS! For the first time ever, Huntington's disease has been successfully treated. A groundbreaking new miRNA treatment, AMT-130, slowed the progression of the disease by 75%. These results are likely to support the first approval of a genetic treatment for the rare neurodegenerative condition.

I have said this before, but eliminating programs that teach a lot of students but don’t have many majors is like a restaurant not buying flour in its grocery delivery because people aren’t ordering flour on the menu.

the problem with "echo chamber" as metaphor is that echoes produce new sounds and resonances. you just need harmonious tones to make those new sounds and resonances something you actually wanna hear. good sounds echoing produce overtones: new sounds consisting of resonant tones. Good, Actually!

Why are we speaking out against SB 37? It threatens academic freedom, shared governance & due process, the cornerstones of American higher education. It increases state control over public higher ed in Texas. It disempowers Faculty Senates. And it has already (while unpassed) led to overcompliance.
“This is not a bill we can risk cleaning up in the next legislative session. It will impact our students and teachers for the worse forever,” said Amanda Garcia with the Texas American Federation of Teachers. @texasaft.org #TxLege #TxEd

I always thought this was where it was all headed. Abolishing birthright citizenship for the non-white and non-rich. And why I teach on United States v. Wong Kim Ark every semester.

Having these in many places mean the images are harder to erase. And harder to forget.
