If you are reading this & you're a young progressive #Hoosier who is fed up with corruption, authoritarianism, etc; for the sake of democracy we beg you, reach out to @runforsomething.net ASAP. Deadline to file for office in the upcoming elections in #Indiana is NOON this coming Friday (Feb. 6).
Huge victory.

They told Taylor Rehmet this seat was unwinnable.
They told us not to waste resources.

Now the GOP lost a Texas State Senate race that hadn’t gone blue since the 90s.

This is what early support + candidates with lived experience looks like.

Run. Everywhere.

We have a right to protest peacefully. The Federal government continues to violate our rights and terrorize our people.
Tear-gassing children is about as fascist and despicable as it gets. Power to the people in Portland.

HUGE TEXAS UNION WIN: @iamunion.bsky.social leader Taylor Rehmet was just elected to the Texas Senate! This win kicks off a wave of union candidates across the state.

While parties are trying to reconnect with the working class, we’re running union members up and down the ballot — and winning. ✊

Amazing.
More than 34,000 Minnesotans signed up to be trained as ICED observers with various activist groups in recent weeks, many of them since Jan. 7, when a federal agent shot and killed Renée Good.

I have been tracking this woman's story since it happened. She absolutely is a hero. The regime smeared her good name, engaged in a cover-up, and the agent who shot her exemplifies the kind of violent cruel out-of-control men who work for DHS.
Marimar Martinez is a hero.

She was shot 5 times by ICE.

The agent told her to “do something b*tch” before opening fire.

He later bragged “5 shots, 7 holes”.

DHS tried to smear her reputation but video footage vindicated her.

Next week she will testify in Washington about ICE’s brutality.

“There was a line of children waiting to get treated by medics.”

ICE did this.
Trump did this.
Republicans did this.
“Centrist” Democrats who have caved on anti-immigrant bullshit for years did this.

Abolish ICE. That’s the minimum.
Someone just told me that they saw multiple people passed out during the first brutal wave of tear gas when there were still a ton of children and elderly folks. There was a line of children waiting to get treated by medics

So believe me I understand this is deeply frustrating and unfair, but a march that does everything right and still gets tear gassed is a successful march that is winning.

A lot of the strategy of protest is luring the authorities into engaging in obviously, transparently unjust uses of force.
It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

This is corruption on a breathtaking level. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an Abu Dhabi royal nicknamed the "spy sheikh", pumped $187mn into Trump family businesses. A WSJ team has the whole story, reported here for the first time. Remember: Jimmy Carter had to sell his peanut farm.

I've seen videos of the indiscriminate use of tear gas on a large crowd that was clearly peaceful and filled with Portlanders of all ages, and well off the macadam facility. We banned tear gas for a reason. I join Councilor Green in calling for enforcement of our laws.
I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Usually dictators are more subtle about looting the treasury, because gross corruption is often a part of what gets them overthrown.
