This! The same is true for paying government workers. For example, one of the reasons why Bernie Madoff was able to get away with running a Ponzi scheme for so long was because the SEC didn’t pay enough to attract the people with the skills. Talent isn’t cheap. You get what you pay for.
People think that because nonprofits are mission-oriented charitable organizations the people that lead them and work there are not supposed to get paid.

Newsflash: nonprofits are companies. What’s different is they don’t pay profits to shareholders.

You gotta pay for talent. End of story.

Yep and I think this is why ppl were happy when government workers were fired when Elon funky ass Musk was on the scene. They think government workers don’t deserve to make really good salaries. They should work for Pennie’s.

I was just thinking about contributing to the "charity" Feeding America. Until I discovered that the salary for its CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, was approximately $949,866 in 2024, with her total compensation being $1,113,502. Apparently, feeding America isn't her top priority.

Another problem is people reading headlines and not context, feeding America's program expense ratio is 98.27% for FY2024, meaning nearly all of its donations go directly to programs and services that help people facing hunger.

And honestly… posting some disingenuous shit like that during the time when these food programs are under such duress is some evil as shit.

And if you look through the comments and quotes on her post all she did was rile people up. She tossed out some red meat and got folks ready to come for that lady’s head.

This is why nonprofit leadership is overwhelmingly white. About 70% white nationally.

Bc you gotta have money to be able to take on these stressful ass jobs and not being home no paycheck to match the stress.

If you wanna see more diverse leadership, you gotta pay.
That’s also part of it, a lot of my industry historically had familial or spousal wealth so the salaries were irrelevant. Now that it’s become more equitable and diverse in hiring it’s becoming clear that practice is not going to continue to work
November 26, 2025 at 3:44 AM
And when you get into the fact that women and black and brown people are overrepresented in nonprofits now you getting into a pay equity issue.

And anything that’s a helping profession ppl wanna devalue. Think teachers, social workers, etc.
Non-profits need talent just like any other company.. just because you work to provide help or services to others doesn’t mean you should work for free.

They think that lady should be making $150k to run that organization lmaoooo I guarantee you.
November 26, 2025 at 3:31 AM
Feeding America’s operating budget is in the BILLIONS. The CEO’s compensation is a whopping .022% of their budget. Not even 1%.

You are not getting someone (competent) to run a 5 BILLION dollar organization with over 600 employees for whatever little money lol think nonprofit leaders should make.

I just said this to my family when they were talking about so and so making cranberry sauce.

Give me the real shit in a can.
I don't want your homemade cranberry sauce. Give me the can of mystery holiday jelly packed by a worker ready to burn the whole factory down.

First of all, this headline is bullshit. She didn’t question anything.

Second of all, you can’t go from calling someone a fascist and claiming you’re gonna fight them tooth and nail to visiting them when summoned.

If you wanna know the truth, Trump gave him cover.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiitch one of my coworkers just told me she caught her man with another woman in bed THIS MORNING!

They live together.

She went out of town OVERNIGHT and stopped by the house this morning to get something instead of coming straight to work, like she planned.
