The winning argument for Dem leaders could be "they want to fear monger about trans people and trans healthcare because they don't want to talk about why your life isn't as good as it could be and have no plan to make it better" — except that most Dem politicians also have no plan to make it better.

all the articles you read about this will say it "would charge doctors" but there is nothing in the bill limiting the felony crime to medical providers. you could write "would charge parents" and be just as correct. news outlets downplay it because news outlets are transphobic.

Actraiser, one of my all-time favorite games, is turning 35 today. Graphics, music and the incredibly smart combintion of action- and sim-elements really make this game an all-time classic. Interesting enough, not only the cover, but also difficulty and other elements vary wildly between regions.

Do NOT create chatbots based on creators you like. It is creepy. It is the wildest, nastiest, creepshit thing you can do omfg please act like someone normal raised you! This is for everyone in every fandom! Don't do this shit!
I have just found out that some reprehensible fucking dork has made an AI chatbot based on the character I played on The Magnus Archives and *it has my voice*. I genuinely don't think I have ever felt so fucking violated. My actual voice. Saying things I have never said. I feel sick.

That last repost makes me think of how distasteful I found all the celebrating when Osama Bin Laden was killed. I didn't live in New York in 2001 but I knew people who did, and I remembered how worried I was about them, and how worried I got about the U.S. in the following years. ...

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

Choosing to focus, on hearing the news of Rob Reiner's passing, to remember this moment where he was so overcome with joy and laughter that he - the director of the movie - was one of many people banished from the set in order to finish filming.
TIL nearly all of the "Miracle Max" scene from Princess Bride was improvised by Billy Crystal, and it took three ten hour days to shoot, because they couldn't get through his improv without everyone (cast and crew) laughing so hard it ruined the audio.

Mandy Patinkin bruised a rib holding it in.

Again, even though the Japanese government leading up to 1945 committed terrible atrocities, none of us think that Japanese internment was caused by the Japanese government. It was caused by American racism.
No, Jews around the world don't suffer because of the actions of the government of Israel. Jews around the world suffer because antisemites use the actions of the government of Israel to justify attacks on Jews. And if you make the same association, you're also an antisemite.

Okay, this Knives Out I think is my favorite so far. Shutouts to Rian Johnson for giving us a bunch of the good kind of whodunnit, which is one where the answer to that question is just the MacGuffin that keeps us sticking around for what the movie is actually doing.

The notion that "humans are running out of ideas" is the most provincial shit I've ever heard. Nah, bro, you and your rich friends are finding it tougher to come up with novel tech scams to use to funnel money to yourselves. That's not the same thing.

We’re not even *close* to running out of good ideas. The issue is smart people’s ideas being systematically persecuted, under-resourced, and blocked from opportunity by fascists. Do not believe propaganda in the “Future Perfect” section of Vox that’s underwritten by Effective Altruism extremists.
This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?
