There is some discrepancy in reporting on whether or not the the man is Muslim. In any case, Ahmed is a 43-year-old local fruit seller and father who was shot while protecting his community and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
‘Hero’ Bystander Who Tackled Bondi Beach Gunman Identified
The bystander who tackled and disarmed one of the gunmen has been identified by local media as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed.

So there is already an ai-generated whitewashing campaign to bury the name of the Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and replace his identity with a white guy name and that’s why even a thimble of our potable water powering this tech is too fucking much.

Its also not too soon to note that a matter of days ago, the Australian Government brought into effect a social media ban for minors. They're going to put dealing to Musk's delusional racist AI in the too-hard basket? Really?

Love to see NZ solar set record after record as we approach the summer solstice. 2114 MWh of utility solar on Sunday 14 December (enough for 63 million cups of tea, or 40 km of e-bike propulsion for everyone in the country), 99.6% renewable overall.

Word is Grok made up the name Edward Crabtree to white-wash it. Something about not wanting a muslim sounding name for the person in the hero role.

I really hope the global outrage over the Bondi Beach mass shooting is going to last when, as too often happens, the targeted harassment, crimes against property and street violence against Muslims, non-white immigrants and indigenous people spike. Again.

I think I've just realised that he's also talking about his predecessor, Jacinda Ardern, here in his list of "series of governments".

It boggles my mind that he would say that about her governments at all, especially including one where we eliminated COVID multiple times and they won big!
"We've had a series of governments now who have encouraged people to be aspirational for New Zealand and have promised things that have been completely unrealistic. ... I'm not going to fall into that trap."

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Once again we learn that the Metropolitan Police have been using undercover agents to spy on a group working to hold the police to account.

If you spy on an anti-corruption group the logical conclusion is that you’re pro-corruption.
