A reminder that cars aren’t a technology problem. They’re a geometry problem.

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

Of all the major cities in the United States, Chicago provides the greatest value, with robust amenities and culture without correlated housing costs. But if Chicago wants to retain that status, some things need to change.

This is a take I have had for a long time:
Every limited access road into a dense urban core should be tolled in each direction at the rate of the standard fare on a parallel transit route x2.

Literally any of the other movies in the top 10 would be a more worthy #1.
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

Great post on how our unsafe trucks (they’d never be allowed in Europe) kill so many pedestrians, and how our governments and companies do almost nothing about it despite endless safety theatre.

When a local publication puts out a list of 26 classic dive bars & I have already been to 20 of them, (1 of which used to be my local) I take pride in this.

Meanwhile my wife thinks this means I have a drinking problem…which is laughable as I literally haven’t had any since <checks notes> the 15th.

What’s depressing isn’t the higher levels of federal expenditures & DOGE’s failure—it’s that the feds replaced expenditures on foreign assistance, research & the environment with spending on ICE personnel & national guard deployments.

Meanwhile, the rich got tax cuts so the deficit worsened.

Everybody involved will need to go to prison and if democrats in congress don’t have the stomach for punishing these people they should just resign now.
DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.
