As you talk about Greenland, please make sure you are talking about the >56,000 Inuit who have called the Island their home for thousands of years. Here are 2 stories that include their voices, concerns, and hopes.

Here I was thinking potential snow day or delayed work and I still have power (for now) so I can get some warframe in, but also no internet 🙃

Took a chance and made scrambled eggs as I still have power but the whole time the light was flickering and I'm like "seriously" lol

This nor'easter is pretty light on wind gusts, power is going out because of snow and nova scotia power never upgrading infrastructure (that rate increase will go to shareholders)

We would all be healthier today if the province had taken the money the Feds gave them for COVID prevention and relief and actually spent it in schools, instead of banking it to pad their surplus.

A thread on how to build suburbs without any car first social engineering
Pull off the highway with me into Spechtenkamp near Utrecht, a little suburban subdivision

The two-lane highway gets a right turn lane (and a left turn lane in the median). This is much safer than having a four lane road the whole way.

If you're wondering how the medical community can ignore a disease that causes all of the damage laid out in the thread below, take note of the fact that continuing medical education processes are so outdated and ineffectual that many can't even recognize #longCOVID when they get it themselves.

Canada’s AI Minister “has been accused of naively embracing AI rather than working to mitigate its harms, and of listening mostly to voices from the tech sector—those who stand to benefit most from rapid AI adoption.”

Good article on the issues with Evan Solomon’s approach to tech and AI.

This is a really good visual, sadly got to take it with a grain of salt (pun intended) when it comes to the city and contractor bothering to follow their own policy

Like last winter the north street sidewalk was a sheet of ice for 2 weeks because they stopped caring after the 3rd storm
Just pushed a big update to snowhfx.danp.net, it has a cycling / #BikeHfx mode now!

This was tricky since it involves joining 3 HRM datasets, including the one it has been using for sidewalks.

Added an About bit that hopefully explains why things show up or not.

Feedback welcome.

Many thanks to Andy Marso for sharing his story. Andy was in j school with me at KU when he almost died from meningitis infection, which can spread easily in student housing. Another reason to fully vax teens before heading off to college. Especially meningitis, which can kill so quick. 🩺 #MedSky
Meningococcal disease has been rare. But when it occurs, it is devastating. High death rate. Survivors often lose limbs, as this person did. There's no way to accurately assess who is at risk. And yet meningococcal vaxes are no longer recommended for all children. www.thebulwark.com/p/my-life-sh...

Im just assuming at this point that @hfxgov.bsky.social just doesn't allocate salt for sidewalks cause surelu they know that when temps drop water freezes

Anyways its windy as fuck out and the sidewalks are iced

If you walk in Halifax consider getting ice cleats

As the right-wing meme page Canada Proud was posting calls to "DEFUND THE CBC," the same PR firm behind it was being indirectly funded by CBC journalists’ own union dues.

Yeah. And that's not all.

So I’m teaming up with my friends at @nationalobserver.com to tell you all about it:

I hope his tires are always blinking less air
