Breaking: The House voted unanimously, 426-0, to strip a provision in the funding bill that allowed senators to sue the government for $500K if their phone data was searched without their knowledge.

The provision was designed for GOP senators to sue over the Jack Smith investigation.

The House has voted unanimously to repeal the provisions in the shutdown package which allow GOP Senators to sue the federal government and get as much as $1 million in damages - because the feds looked at their phone records in the Jan. 6 investigation.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Doesn’t This Fall Under Obstruction Of Justice?!?

HUGE BREAKING: Trump lawyer Paul Ingrassia reportedly obstructed justice into a DHS sex trafficking investigation of Andrew Tate by demanding Tate gets his phone back from DHS – by orders of Trump's WHITE HOUSE. 😳 These people are sick.

As usual, Steve Kerr is right. Trimming the NBA regular season schedule by about ten games would cut down on injuries, and we'd have fewer playoff series decided by which team's star player blew out his Achilles in late May.

Kerr worried NBA's upped pace leading to injuries
Steve Kerr said he's "very concerned" that the NBA's increased pace of play combined with a condensed schedule is leading to an increase in soft tissue injuries.

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

For any other President, this would be the worst, most career-destroying thing they ever said. For Trump, it was Tuesday.
Trump in response to an Epstein question: "ABC, your company, your crappy company is one of the perpetrators. I think the license should be taken away from ABC because your news is so fake and so wrong. And we have a great commissioner, a chairman, who should take a look at that."

Is it a threat to free speech when the President of the United States threatens to yank the broadcast license of a channel whose reporters are asking him challenging questions?

I ask because I feel like there used to be tons of pundits worried about free speech. Where'd they go?

"What if another author has the same idea as you? Don't you worry about it?"

Nope! Hell, knowing me, I will absolutely boost that author's book right alongside my own. Because there is no competition here, only community.
