Hi new followers! I am an author, communications specialist working in an academic library, twin mom, and American immigrant to Australia.
If a man said “quiet piggy” to me it would be the last thing he said with a working set of nads, I can tell you that much.

I hope people understand that the anomaly here aren’t the conditions—the conditions are very typical—the anomaly is that they put a number of documented workers from a high-income country in those conditions. This is how people are treated in custody routinely
korean reporting is nightmarish on the conditions Korean workers were contained in

I think there is no better summation of the Democratic Party than saying you want to minimize cruelty instead of completely eliminate it
We can protect national security and public safety — the reasons why ICE was created in the first place — while minimizing cruelty, especially to children.

Absolutely sick of being represented by @amyklobuchar.com at this point. Might as well be a republican.
Only 23 Dems voted against confirming former Congressman Marc Molinaro, an opponent of public transit, as Federal Transit Administrator.

One of my 3yo twins calls older kids whose ages he doesn’t know “big-year-olds” and I don’t ever want it to stop.

I want you to imagine that you opened a bag of flour to feed your children. There's no other food. Then you open the flour and find prescription medicine ground up in it.

Prescription painkillers.

In the only food for your CHILDREN.

Bill Clinton’s just chilling in his living room, watching ICE kidnappings on tv, when the sex pest election trouble alarm goes off in his kitchen. “Not cuomo,” he says to himself. “Not another member of the brotherhood”

It really is the easiest thing in the world to say an entire population shouldn’t be driven from their homes, blocked from escape, then bombed and starved into oblivion. This should never happen: no exceptions, no context required. The fact that people are still on the fence is what’s controversial.

Today, I’m thinking about all the mothers who have been separated from their children. By militaries, by borders, by death. Every child should have the option to hold their mom on Mother’s Day.

This is the right approach — speak to them as you would an especially stupid child, spell out their crimes and your contempt clearly.
I  know your goal is to try to make life as hard as possible for immigrants.

i will say again that given the trajectory of the white house so far, strident opposition a la 2017 would have absolutely been the most prudent and effective decision and the absence of that opposition in the first two months made things demonstrably worse.
