I increasingly believe Jordan Lewis is the best public testimony giver in the city, and it may not even be close. The absolute goat of saying whatever needs to be said to whatever feral morons are in the crowd or behind the dais

pretty sure @indinmkng.bsky.social just dropped a subtle "Lisa Needs Braces" reference in her senate transportation committee testimony today about the need for greater reform of odot's bonding authority

I think the level of sexual abuse that is going to be coming out of ICE would put the Boston archdiocese and Penn State to shame
Sounds like he thought he had a get out of jail free card on the underage sex charge since he was ICE www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...

Dan Ryan’s social media is so bad and somehow only getting worse to the point he might have a humiliation fetish. Didn’t even know you could get ratio’d like this on instagram

Councilor Avalos' live-tweeting thread about the state of Portland's Inclusionary Housing is worth reading.

IH is now working in Portland because the program is fully funded - ensuring that we build mixed-income neighborhoods while also encouraging more housing production across the city.
Next on the agenda is an update on the City's Inclusionary Housing program and recent efforts to make the program work better for developers. Staff from the Portland Housing Bureau are here to explain the background of IH and how the program got adjusted after a 2024 study.

it will be insanely funny if the end result of this is California getting a blue gerrymander while Texas's is struck down. RIP Kevin Kiley, deleted by Gavin Newsom for nothing at all.
Here is the federal district court's 2–1 ruling, authored by a very conservative Trump appointee, striking down Texas' new Republican gerrymander on the grounds that it unlawfully discriminates against racial minorities. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

There's so much going on here:

- Trump plans to launch strikes on World Cup co-host Mexico due to drug trafficking (???)

- And invade Seattle and LA if they don't "behave" (???)

- FIFA's Gianni Infantino then agrees Trump can take matches away from cities (???)

You heard it here first- the only legal highway improvement in Idaho is congestion pricing (reduces congestion, reduces travel delays, reduces engine idle time, reduces unproductive fuel consumption).

the absurdity of having my quotidian daily routine occasionally interrupted by a local neighborhood anti ICE signal chat, sending out an alert to ask all nearby folks to show up at the bus stop to make sure kids or their parents aren’t abducted by the federal government on their way home from school

This feels like a bit i’d have expected from Waystar Royco’s ATN
Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

license plate data merged with credit header data, marriage records, vehicle ownership, and voter registrations, in one app for ICE agents. oh and it sends push notifications when someone they're seeking is nearby.

Also see: why Mayor Wilson deserves more time and money to get things done but also City Council is a mess entirely because of Angelita and Candace.
Same thing has been the media's two-sided pivot in Portland.

Centrist-to-conservative government has been in charge since the very beginning, but the city was falling apart due to one POC progressive on Council, so here is why we need to re-elect Ted & Rene, get more cops & repeal Measure 110
These articles always depend on a bizarre Schroedinger's Seattle: The city is falling apart due to progressive overreach but we should have re-elected the conservative non-socialist who has been in charge for the last four years.

i don't think that bush v. gore is the *worst* ruling in the history of the supreme court, but i do think it is the most openly *corrupt* ruling in its history. a real disgrace.

gobsmacked by how broken America is but how stubbornly resilient and determined and inspiring some Americans are
a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Duncan, a political newcomer and former prisoner, defeated incumbent Darren Lombard by a wide margin in Saturday's runoff.
