Lotta salty takes and strife on here tonight. @irhottakes.bsky.social is great and y'all should be nice to her. Go debate your moral relativism and whatever somewhere without attacking people. I'm sure if you come up with a clearly stated consensus people here will be interested in listening

New Mexico just became the first U.S. state to offer free universal child care

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham told CBS News it would save families an average of $12,000 a year.

"In 41 states in America, your child care payment is more than your mortgage payment," she said.

Today is an excellent day to restore Link’s account, as other people who did the exact same thing were only given short suspensions.

He was one of the most positive voices here and he deserves to be reinstated.

Speaking of geothermal, here's a company that's doing traditional, old-school geothermal, but with a twist: they use AI to locate overlooked geothermal hotspots. In 3 years they've discovered more hotspots than the whole industry discovered in 30 years.

On TDOR, we share the names of just a number of the 281 trans people murdered in the past year. Most were Black and Brown trans women. Activists are being targeted too. We come together in grief and care, and keep pushing for a world where trans lives are safe and full of joy. @tgeuorg.bsky.social

AOC's email today is about the Dems needing a positive, affirmative vision for the country and I'm so glad she is keeping on this. So much of the party message is just anti-trump, and when he, fingers crossed, passes, they are going to be in trouble.

People have largely tried to act like ICE/CBP failed and retreated from LA and that is completely untrue. If it weren’t for the relentless coverage of places like @lataco.bsky.social these stories would be completely under the radar.
ICE has been raiding my neighborhood and surrounding ones for the last couple of weeks now. They commandeered my local church (against the pastor's will) for a staging site and raided supermarkets, parks, Goodwills, bus stops, you name it.

The national media's been silent. So has @mayor.lacity.gov.
Engagement on our updates re: ICE kidnappings/fed siege of Los Angeles is significantly lower on Bluesky compared to Twitter. Do ppl on here not care about LA anymore? Are feeds being taken over by liberal commentators? What's going on?

Community members on the ground can't do it all. We need help.

There is this bit where a lot of younger folk on both the left and right, and honestly everywhere in between, want to just tear it all down. And that is both a reasonable belief, and maybe not going to go anywhere good. I think both parties have gotten away with ignoring the youth. Not anymore

The hallmark film around this is going to make me cry, again, in front of my grandparents. Also, and words can't convey the heft of this, but they have never said anything bad about anyone. Ever. Like ever, in a long life. And they wouldn't even offer trump a cup of coffee.
i am going to continue to maintain that normal people hate this shit, and people will *especially* hate *this* shit

Impossible for issue polling on immigration to function when the average voter wants "a tougher system, like [describes an idealized system that is vastly more liberal than the status quo]"
anyway. I am going to take my long-standing skepticism of issue polling and add on to it that I think any polling of an issue where respondents can't reasonably understand what the different options would look like in practice can be more or less discarded except as a barometer of general affect.
