Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

The more Lizza writes the more he indicts himself in serious ethical lapses but there are a lot of editors and publishers who are complicit here, too.

The whole thing is just gross.

(And shout out to the serious journalists who do good work. You deserve better peers and a healthier industry.)

so is the rank of a 2-star a Major Captain General or Captain Major General
And while I'm out-pedanting pedants ... it's fine to refer to the Attorney General as "General." Yes, "general" is an adjective specifying the jurisdiction of the attorney. And yet, this makes it no different than in the armed forces, where "General" is a shortened form of "Captain General."

TIL how General became a title.

Question though: what are captains who aren’t captain generals?

Captain specifics? Captain domains? Captain particular?

Or are all captains Captain generals and all three terms are interchangeable?

There’s a word we used to say. They don’t let you say it anymore, but I think it’s a beautiful word. We call it: dialectic. You have the thesis, and then the antithesis, and if you put them together it’s a synthesis. Very powerful. We’ll be looking into that. Very materialist, the theory of history
TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

Trump is utterly charmed; Mamdani convinced him that all they both want is for NY to be great; Trump is defending Mamdani from loaded questions by his pet reporters and wants to be his best friend.

"challenge scientific orthodoxy"
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

Respectfully, what’s the debate?

The president of the United States has called for the trial and execution of members of Congress in a manner that would make Charles I blush.

As a constitutional matter, I fail to see where there is room for reasonable disagreement about what happened yesterday.
President Trump’s recent statements accusing Democratic lawmakers of making “seditious” comments to military and intelligence community members have ignited a free speech debate.

Two things are true:

1. Immigration judges are not, well, judges. they are members of the executive branch. you do not receive the kind of process you associate with courts from them.

2. This framing will encourage ppl to apply who will make things worse.
DOJ is now recruiting for immigration judges by calling them “deportation judges.”

That’s seems really bad.

Comey's reply on his motion to get grand jury transcripts is by far the most interesting of the filings in that case today (including govt cherry pick of transcript).

A lot of this explains why the 2nd indictment would have problems even if it was legal.
