I've boycotted Black Friday since basically forever. These days, however, it's not so much a choice as it is a necessity for paying rent.
The ‘Mass Blackout’ and ‘We Ain’t Buying It’ boycotts call for people to limit their spending through Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a way to protest the Trump administration. Here’s what you need to know.

So cool that the courts put this absurd financial and logistical burden on @flibones.bsky.social , on top of the already fucked up stress of being under federal indictment. Help them out. They were fighting for all of us, after all.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, I feel it's important for everyone to remember that most legacy media is institutionally transphobic, particularly the Atlantic and the New York Times.

In a just world, reposting their content would be considered a hate crime.

Since none of the local orgs like @spectrumcenter.bsky.social or @spokanepride.bsky.social bother with Bluesky with any consistency, I'm gonna share this here so those of us who can't stomach the Metaverse can see it. Please share.

It sure would be cool if the local LGBTQ orgs posted on the platform that trans people use.

@governorferguson.bsky.social has affirmed the importance of supporting the transgender community in Washington and honoring the contributions of transgender individuals throughout history.

Cool, I guess. In the context of his history of relative silence on trans rights, this feels incredibly rote
Today, Washington honors the transgender lives we have lost to hate-crimes and violence. Our state continues to work to be a place where every trans person can live safely and without fear. @governorferguson.bsky.social

This is exhausting.

Can somebody just make an app that tracks in real time what rights I do and do not have, and sends me notifications when things change? Make it searchable by ZIP code and given it home screen widgets. Sort of like a weather app, but for rights.
18 Nov 2025 -- After adding language that appeared to imply that correct-gender trans passports might be invalidated, the State Dep't. re-updates its website to clarify that “all passports” held by trans ppl will remain valid until their expiration date. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social

My cis colleagues wonder why I passed on the opportunity to work on a national tour...
I have started responding to any complaints with “I have to google whether I can use the bathroom in a state before I travel, but sure that sounds hard too” when I’m annoyed.

Bill Clinton should do the right thing and fess up. The whole truth will come out in time anyway; his legacy—such as it is—is destroyed. It would serve him well to fall on his sword and bring Trump down with him.

Cool cool. So I may no longer be able to leave the country.

If they invalidate my passport, what's to stop them from invalidating Social Security card? My driver's license? My (amended) birth certificate?

What then?
1. The Trump administration has just quietly updated the State Department website to indicate that it may invalidate transgender people's passports.

This comes a week after a SCOTUS ruling blocking lower rulings allowing trans people to update them.

I have known Paul Tazewell as a colleague and as a neighbor. I knew him well before Hamilton. His work is incredible in every detail, and he's a kind, wonderful man to boot. I'm so glad he's getting the full recognition and reverence he has deserved his entire career.
NEW: "Wicked: For Good" is a potent fascism allegory that speaks in the language of one of America's most successfully enduring pieces of mass culture.

Woo hoo!

Sometimes I revel in sending an incumbent packing. Sometimes I'm really excited for the fresh perspective that a newly elected official brings. In this case, both are very true.

Big congratulations to Sarah Dixit, and good fucking riddance to transphobic ghoul/wedding DJ Jonathan Bingle!
Zero votes left to count! It appears Sarah Dixit has won a seat on Spokane City Council by more than 100 votes. Because the percentage difference is more than 1% it will not go to a recount.

I know it's probably too early to imagine Transphobic ghoul/wedding DJ Jonathan Bingle opening his Outlook calendar and tearfully deleting his recurring Monday night appointment, but I just can't help myself. It's too much fun.

The Roosevelt Institute was honored to present @teenvogue.com with the 2025 Freedom of Speech Medal because their team understood that freedom is about both speaking truth to power and the capacity to build power.

This can't be serious, can it?

1) This is such an egregious violation of the 14th amendment that we might as well just dissolve the nation (no complaints from me).

2) They're your kind, Greg. At least much more so than the typical New Yorker.
They’ve all gone mad.

Sad news about Teen Vogue. Another legacy media outlet caves to fascism.

Whoever snags Lex will have hit the jackpot, though, and I'm exited to see it.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
