Because I am by nature a conspiracy theorist, early on in this 'take up AI!' mania I alleged to myself that it was a collusion to benefit fossil fuel power generators (end of life profit tsunami) AND technazis (rampant data harvesting and disinfo via slop).

This is a stunning story. I've been tracking the "greenhushing" narrative for a while now: this is the idea that strict regulations on fake climate claims spooks companies into total silence; therefore we shouldn't regulate them.
