I was talking to a biologist last night who just gave a talk on climate change, and I asked him how our kids can have hope in this world. He looked utterly deflated and said he had no good answer. I appreciated his honesty.

I’ve noticed that clergy are swearing more, in case that’s another barometer of the times in which we are living.

These clowns don’t even have uniforms, just whatever kit they cobbled together from their well-armed militia fantasies.
"Person in pajama pants confronting federal immigration agents" seems to be a developing trend.

The photo below appears to have been taken during an incident that took place today in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Two miles of ice core on the shelf at our national ice core facility in Lakewood, Colorado. The WAIS Divide core from West Antarctica is a 3400m long (deepest US core, 2nd deepest ice core ever) 68,000 year old record of high resolution climate.

Of course that’s his profile picture
Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino’s dad killed a 26-year-old woman while driving drunk and got just 1 year in jail.

Here he’s responding to someone who pointed out that very few people detained by ICE have a criminal record.

I wish! I’m starting to dislike the repetition of turkey.
Ham is for Easter. Turkey for Thanksgiving. Prime Rib Roast for Christmas.
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”

The Death of Stalin
This is often how personalist regimes work -- dozens of guys close to the leader compete for power and influence, backstabbing and out-maneuvering each other for the leader's attention/ignorance.
The crazy thing about Trump II is that we really have no idea who is drafting the war plans or the peace plans, or even how much Trump is in the loop on either.

Well, this was a pretty lovely thread to discover.
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

We had nearly two hundred people in church today for our 187th anniversary service in downtown Moncton at St. John’s. Debby Warren, formerly of Ensemble, shared in a dialogue with me and moved people to tears with her stories of caring for vulnerable/unhoused/addicted neighbours.

I took part in a service for a Roman Catholic, French Monctonian. The service was bilingual with a former priest now retired Judge sharing scripture and prayer in French. Even my Anglophone self offered some French words. The man’s wife was Anglophone Protestant.

I was visiting a family last week and I’m still thinking about it. The adult daughter said, ‘I have to say something. You look exactly like my father. It’s haunting!’ I looked at her mum, whom I have known for years. She smiled and said, ‘You really do. He died when he was 50 from a stroke.’

If I didn't trust Mr LeBrun's reporting as much as I do, I'd have figured he made up Freek Schep, leader of the Ostrich Convoy.
It looks like about 15-20 vehicles turned out for the Halifax ostrich convoy led by Gen Z Dutch maple syrup merchant Freek Schep

The ostrich convoy was lined up along a highway on the outskirts of Halifax earlier this morning
