Play anywhere is still quite limited, only like 200 games out of thousands. It'll be good as the new norm but I do think there'll be real value in licensed back compat.

I think you're right, but as for why buy an Xbox-hybrid over a 'normal' PC, I think they're going to be pushing:

- Price (compared to similarly specced prebuilds)
- Some 'special' on board tech (AI, RT)
- Native Xbox library compat

We'll see! Interesting times.

Xbox has a program that gets 1-2 dev kits to indie developers for free. The GDK is also free on github, and putting your Series X into dev mode I think costs $25 (linked dev account)?

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003. That's amazing

We at DF rarely get PC code early, and if we do, the embargo is 1 week or less including a weekend. With me having a contract, worker's rights and having a great boss, I am not going to be burning the midnight oil on Sunday so Jimmy PC can get free work done for him in an optimised settings video.

I've seen interviews, podcasts and articles for a few months, ads on reddit, and it's on the Xbox dashboard. Had decent presence at gamescom. Game was announced at the June showcase.
