It looks like weak sales / engagement of #FBCFirebreak have pushed the CEO of Remedy to step down.

My thoughts? I've been critical of Remedy's strategy for some time now, and this does not surprise me.

The #Xbox devkits might be going up in price, but it's not really that impactful. Please consider the following:
I suspect we're looking at the SEO optimization as a result of that first, but at some point A.I. is going to start mucking with all of this.
I don't know what's going on here, but I assume it has something do with SEO (optimization):
There is a general cost advantage, AND efficiency with extraction (and by extension battle royale). They essentially make their own content. It might be low ranked by consumers, but certain studios seem convinced that at the product level, it still pays off.
Yeah, tell me about it. I find the hidden views that some of these guys were harboring the whole time to be quite at odds with being an executive.
Four years after broadly expanding into games, #Netflix is struggling to impress analysts. GTA remains their one bright spot, but they certainly paid for it.

The strategy is a loss function at this point, but in their defense, that's probably the expectation.

Time and time again, we see these private server projects get shut down, and 90% of the time, they are redistributing someone else's IP without permission.
Stop.
You don't have permission to use someone else's IP.

It is NOT okay to redistribute someone else's intellectual property #worldofwarcraft #gamingnews

Apparently, there was a rumor that the executive producer of #TheDivision franchise exited Ubisoft. It gained so much traction that Massive Entertainment felt the need to respond (the rumor was false).
3/ Imagine if I took some small indie game that popped off, and started redistributing their content as my own. That's NOT OK, and it's not in this case either.

Yes, there have been many occurrences where companies allowed modding of their content, or brought it developers that worked on mods.
2/ They took someone else's IP, made their own server, content, and revenue stream, and are trying to pass it off as an innocent fan project.

What Blizzard's WoW has accomplished doesn't change the very real legal issues (using someone else's IP without permission and redistributing it).
1/ Turtle WoW isn't just some "fan mod." It's a full blown #WorldofWarcraft service, with it's own content, and more importantly, willful use of the WoW intellectual property.
It also doesn't matter if their revenue stream is labeled as "donations," Turtle WoW makes money from Blizzard's IP.
I know some people find him controversial (and that's fine) but Prof G explains (in about 1 minute) why the big platforms like #Netflix are chasing podcasts.
And he's right.

2/ To be clear, I'm not debating the morality of it. I'm simply re-emphasizing what I said before: Video game companies are actively looking at lower cost labor options, and we can already see that playing out across the industry. Unions are traditionally viewed as a "cost adder."
Correction from an earlier statement: When #Battlefield V undersold expectations, it moved about 7.3M units during the quarter. EA expected about 8.3M units.

BF6 moved 7M+ units...in three days.

EA announced that #Battlefield6 shattered franchise records, becoming the biggest launch in BF history.

7M units moved in 3 days.

FYI: 7M was a baseline in expected sales over the full launch period (usually 3 months) of previous BF games. They moved that in 3 days.

2/ As for One Drive, it's perfectly reasonable, especially if you sync your gaming screenshots (or any screenshots for that matter) to One Drive so you can pull them down on any device.

I do that and I find it extremely useful. If you don't want it, turn off syncing.
1/ I don't know why this is surprising, but the Asus Rog Xbox Ally units are, at their core, Windows PCs. They will come with One Drive and Teams installed (you don't need to use teams at all or log into it). They are Windows machines, obviously.
Burned up at least two hours playing #BallxPit when I was done working today. It's another roguelike + survivor mashup, but done in the style of a classic puzzle game like Breakout / Arkanoid.
Game Freak has generally been good about multiple project releases, especially when the games share some kind of common DNA.
