Is it me or have the engineers turned up the aggression dial on Waymos lately? Had one pass me pretty assertively in a 25 then immediately pull over to the curb blocking the bike lane to let someone out.

Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

Something really funny that's happening with the rad power battery stuff is that I'm seeing a lot of affected customers decide to ignore the warning notice because of lack of faith in the government right now. Perfect storm lol

"We label jurisdictions like [these dark blue ones] “municipal tax havens” for the way they shield property wealth from taxation."

Are the dark blue areas the ones that you expected based on that description?

Two-way stops on residential streets are a total menace.

I'm out walking the baby to sleep and just saw a neighbor (I recognize her car) run over a jogger and then proceed to blame him for being in the crosswalk.

The ugly underbelly of this story is that the Berkeley City Manager and fire department are trying to shut down *all* street fairs in Berkeley because, in their words, the city is getting too dense, and has built too many bike lanes, and the fire department doesn't like either of those things.
The first time I visited Berkeley, the Telegraph Fair was happening.

I loved it & thought Telegraph was car free and filled with street vendors all the time.

I was disappointed when I found out it wasn’t permanent.

So glad the festival will continue & look forward to a future car free Telegraph.
Big news for #Berkeley: Councilmember @cecilialunaparra.bsky.social and @mayoradenaishii.bsky.social have successfully worked with the Fire Department and other city staff to keep the Telegraph Ave street fair on Telegraph!

Come visit in December!

It takes 40 Waymos to move the same number of people as a single bus

If SF doesn't ban or heavily limit AVs then they will destroy the city
Almost half the Waymos on California streets are driving around empty. They're either waiting for the next customer or en route for a pickup.

If robotaxis scale, anything close to that level of deadheading would create crushing gridlock.

On the advice of some smart folks on here, I did take a break from AltNPS-posting yesterday, and it felt great.

But AltNPS never takes breaks. And yesterday, they decided to really lean into their new habit of cranking out exploitative, overwrought ICE raid slop.

First off, my suspension has ended. Got a little harsh with a post a few days ago but I didn’t have my feet on the ground and I’m sorry if I offended anyone. Will try to be more chipper. Knock on wood!

Discussing KitKat and the safety of autonomous vehicles (they’re very safe) feels like the wrong conversation to be having when California has perhaps the laxest DUI laws in the nation.

There are blocks I won't go jogging down because it's just a wall of Ring cameras right up against the street with no setback and I do not need everyone and their grandmother recording me struggling at sunrise.
