It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

It's worth reading through the whole thing, not just these horrific excerpts. Most important: not a single person -- with the exception of a guy who says he'll turn on CNN if he's out of other options -- gets their news from actual journalists. It's all RW podcasts, YouTubers and TikTok.
From the right-wing Manhattan Institute's focus group of Gen Z conservatives -- just jaw-dropping stuff. We have a very sick society. www.city-journal.org/article/manh...

All but one US President has been a white man.

65% of all elected offices are held by white men.

Roughly 30% of the population is white men.

the ADA was probably the last piece of great bipartisan American legislation on civil rights, and it's fiercely under attack from a deeply ableist administration. But it's a great achievement!
Is there anywhere on Earth with better accessibility in public spaces than the US?

We’re far from perfect but FFS even in Canada there are still apartment lobby doors everywhere that need two functioning hands to open, and nowhere near enough curb cuts.

YOU DUMB FUCKS. THIS IS ME.

I have a scooter. I can walk. I can't, however, walk through 80 miles of airport. I can walk onto an airplane or through hallways. I can't walk the .5 mile to the convention center.

People, get smarter, it's embarrassing at this point.

I have to emphasize that the core of this piece are that Savage talked to three guys—one a journalist, one an academic, and one a screenwriter—whose core complaints are that they sometimes struck out for jobs in those three industries, which are somewhat notoriously the worst possible job markets

On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

I don’t think it’s an improvement that we’re creating a culture where everyone creative also has to be hot
