I love the TTRPG player who can’t grok the way a game is supposed to go, you point them to an actual play created for the express purpose of showing them, but they don’t have time to spare for it, even though doing so would solve their problems with this game they’re going to spend hours playing.

There are few pleasures in life as pure and unadulterated as watching Wes play a fucked up little French man with family trauma and the specter of a vampire milf hunting his family

The article is well worth a read; this information would never have come to light were it not for Steam's AI disclosure policy, and the game looks to be a rushed cash grab not involving Grasshopper studio.

This is why CEOs dont like AI disclosures, they want to be able to discreetly serve slop
The Let it Die sequel - Let it Die: Inferno - which is coming out next week (4th December), seems to have been built using a considerable amount of generative AI. https://bit.ly/4ol7lIA

Running Man, if you’re going in chasing the high of the first movie is a flop, but as an adaptation of the OG novel, I think it does a pretty solid job. Stand-off performance for Emilia Jones tho, maybe like 20 minutes of air time and she really ate up every second

I love cinematic play over simulationist play because it allows more action at the table. The story has ebb & flow. It doesn't matter if it's war gaming, trading card gaming, or TTRPGs, I always want to feel like I'm experiencing something!

Great conversation (I also get a shout-out at the top)
The newest episode of The Darkened Threshold is about cinematic gameplay! Alex and I dig deep into this often misunderstood concept, and I think it's one of the best episodes we've ever done. A perfect Thanksgiving travel listen.

And of course it did but the ending of the video did make me cry, what a stellar deep dive. 4+ hours was a lot, but I watched it over like four days to help haha
The new defunctland video is fun because I think on one hand it’s hard to describe any corporate user experience tactics without sounding like a cartoon villain, but then he talks about plans to use info stored on the Magic plus rfid bands to customize meet n greets and well maybe that’s a bit much

It's cool how we keep proving over and over and over again that there's a significant market for narrative-heavy, character-driven, single-player experiences in video games and publishers just categorically refuse to believe us
