Hire this writer, please. We have vet bills to pay. #writerforhire #catsky
I was supposed to freelance with an ad agency in February, but that job's now up in the air. If you're someone who makes editorial decisions at a major comic company, you could pick worse times to hire me for my first work for an international publisher.

When people ask why @yikes-sonal.bsky.social is the perfect person to bring writers together, know that it's for their way with words.

Tagging @nadiadaeng.bsky.social and waiting to hear her reaction from the other room because, yes, we're one of those couples.
In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights

As a Southeast Asian, I always found it lowkey hilarious that the west could only imagine great, affordable street food in a sci-fi future.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

I really like Danny Khazem's work with J.M. DeMatteis over the last few years. Also, I've spent some time chatting with Ben Abernathy and he is one of the sweetest guys I've ever met, in or out of comics.
I don’t think editors get enough recognition. Who are your favorite comic book editors?

WORK-LIFE BALANCE was the project on which I felt like I well and truly found my voice as a writer, while also allowing me to collaborate with @charsiewspace.bsky.social, a fellow creator that I respect (and actually like as a person!).

Taking a break from the novel over the last couple of days to work on a show bible. Hopefully, I can jump back in tomorrow. It's good though. I don't want to get into the same funk from last year where I was too close to see that I actually had a decent first draft going.

Simon & Kirby were creative partners.

Lee & Kirby were creative collaborators, but Lee was the boss.

That's not the same thing.

I mean, this is kinda what happens if you found a democracy on stolen land acquired through genocide and attempt to build said democracy using slave labor.
How's that analysis of how a once mighty democracy founded on justice & righteousness crumbled at the hand of a cruel & foolish tyrant going. It amuses me they're still looking everywhere for answers but at the root, that it's all founded on native genocide & chattel slavery. Still waiting.

Chuckling at the people in the U.S. who consistently shit on people who live in "red" states... Well according to others in the world, the entire US is now a "red" state. Not so easy to overthrow authoritarians, is it?
Important perspective from Greenland.

The moral of this story: promote your thing on its own strengths. If you feel the need to slam another thing by comparison — particularly if all you’ve got over it is “we’re older!” — you’ve already lost.
Still find it funny that the Ninja Turtles are as old now as these characters were when this drivel was farted out, and only one of these characters is still in use in any meaningful way today, and even then only as a cereal mascot.

I name my main characters first. A lot of the time, their names help shape who they are. I use placeholders for everyone else.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Writing technical question!

Do you name your characters right away or do you use placeholder names?

Are the placeholders descriptive or just filler names you'll change?

Has a placeholder ever grown on you?

I measure my social media engagement by how many fellow creators I can have nice conversations and make dumb jokes with—and lemme tell ya, going by that metric, Bluesky's ahead by a mile.
