The collective delusion here is useful in that it has provoked conservatives to dispense with decades of bootstrap rhetoric and reveal what they would say if they thought black people were people, that is to say, if these things were happening to them

Speaking ill of the dead is controversial, particularly when it was a violent death. It’s edgy; it’s sensitive; best avoided in most cases, etc.

Baselessly making another person’s murder *about yourself,* and then approving of it, is a different thing. That is delusional, narcissistic, sociopathic.

Brown U kids who survived USA 389th mass shooting of 2025 will now pay out of pocket for their healthcare, because USA guarantees guns but not health.

Australians who survived the 1st mass shooting in 29 years will pay nothing for healthcare because Australia guarantees health & regulates guns.

An Anti-Defamation League that actually believed in its stated mission would savage Trump for his comments about Rob Reiner and his wife, but they are too busy trying to find out whether an Oberlin student said something critical of Israel.

I point to this movie all the time as an example of the best use of stylized subtitles (when Denzel and other characters speak in Spanish throughout the film)–which is too often lost when streaming platforms strip that styling in favor of their default subtitle typeface (see also: John Wick)

Nothing precludes you from believing that all workers should get fair wages and a generous social safety net and also that gutter racism toward a customer should get you fired.

I swear to god they are making up this author to make leftists look stupid.

The key question in American politics now is whether public disapproval of Trump will grow fast enough to save our democracy before Trump builds such a crushing dictatorship that public opinion no longer matters.

The Heritage Foundation is an authoritarian Christian Nationalist organization.

Treat their people accordingly.
In case you ever needed proof that the Heritage Foundation is not a conservative organization, here we have them cheering on the Federal Government threatening to strip all funding from a state that does not make political decisions the President likes. Any true conservative would be howling.
The US government is now a mafia organization.

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

If you're ever wondering whether an email from me is actually a scam, your first clue will be that you received an email from me.
Apparently this is a pretty widespread scam. They reach out and invite you to participate in a "book club" where listeners will discuss your work. It's not a low-rent Nigerian Prince situation, they send lots of emails back and forth before asking for money and couch it as a small donation.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

I guess the future of American politics was always going to be Instagram models in Texas spouting ethnic cleansing rhetoric

“Vote for me so we can kick every dirty Muslim out of Texas.
Save your daughters from getting ra**d by Muhammad”
