if I'm not supposed to break the heart why is it already breaky. feel like it says what I'm supposed to do right there on the tin
I am personally grateful for every incredibly stupid thing Trump does that doesn’t lead directly to loss of life. Just pile the stupid up so high that every remotely persuadable person has to acknowledge it.
NAVY NEWS: In an address on the USS George Washington in Japan, the President says he will issue an EO requiring future Ford-class aircraft carriers to revert to steam catapults and hydraulic elevators, speaking at length of his distrust of "magnets"

Not kidding

Executive Order To Go Back To Steam Catapults On New Aircraft Carriers Coming: Trump
The electromagnetic catapults and weapons elevators for Ford class carriers have historically been a headache, but changing now would create immense challenges.

“Lisa Bonet ate no basil” is my new favorite palindrome.
He’s shading Riley Gaines, referring to this:

Gaines: I want to challenge AOC to a debate.
The family is now saying things like “Someone needs to perambulate the beast” and “has the canine been given sustenance?” because the dog knows too many words.
This is exactly the passage that most stuck with me from Slaughterhouse 5. The part about America having no tales of the virtuous poor is shockingly true once it’s pointed out. Virtue = money in this godforsaken culture.
reading slaughterhouse 5 for the first time and i was absolutely knocked senseless by this passage, which is so true and relevant that it feels like it was pulled from a history book

I think about this in how the guy who ran MySpace sold his company and then traveled the world doing photography, while the guy who runs Facebook never let it go and has gone out of his way to destroy democracy in order to gain more power.
The desperate need to accumulate more and more at the cost of everyone else’s wellbeing should be classified as a mental disorder, and I will absolutely die on this hill.
Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."
I have more than one thing in my fridge, but if I only had one thing, I would also choose a jar of jalapeños
Being about the same age as Hawke & Delphy and watching each of the Before movies in theaters when they were released is the greatest cinematic experience of my life. I love those films.

When he says “hit it, Joe”, I don’t think first time viewers are going to be prepared for just how hard Joe hits it.
makes me weep to think of the gifts robbed from us because unaffordable housing has made it difficult for people to pursue their passions and hobbies

“the president got mad at a television commercial so now your maple syrup is more expensive” is no way to run a country
Cool! I finally started James a couple of days ago. 30 chapters in and I really love it so far!

Blown away by this story from The Texas Tribune. Amazing work by the team over there, and I'm glad they let us republish it to KXAN: www.kxan.com/lgbtq/trans-...
I didn’t think I was very sentimental, but having the most embarrassing, vile president of my lifetime permanently f*ck up the White House is really gnawing at me. I don’t care how wasteful it is, I want the next president to tear that down and rebuild it as it was.

Team "we are only objecting to boys playing on girls' teams and having an unfair advantage" being consistent and logical again
Cis boy in Arizona experiences trans discrimination -

He was told to play on the Girls basketball team and is not allowed to play on boys basketball team due to birth certificate clerical error (even after amending it).

The boy's parents say a mix-up at the hospital led to him being mistakenly listed as female on his birth certificate.

Stuff like this is why Grandpa always told us never to trust a Swede
One basic rule of constructive discourse is to avoid straw men: describe a person’s position in a way they agree with. Did the No Kings rally goers think of them as “hate America” rallies? Obviously not. Do Young Republican leaders think of themselves as Nazis? Obviously yes.

I mean this is viscerally upsetting because it's really genuinely him treating the white house like it's his own personal property; he's the king and it's his palace. No other president ever thought like this, even if they were a fucking horrible person, because it goes against our founding creed
I'm not a West Wing obsessed lib or anything but the more I see pictures of this the more fucked up I think it is. It's like he cut off one of the hands of the Lincoln memorial with an angle grinder so he could add a big gun to it.
The Treasury Department instructed employees not to share to share photos of the demolition of parts of the White House’s East Wing

Once again, one reason Trump says & does whatever he wants is bc every societal institution, including the media, has totally normalized & internalized the idea that the laws, the Constitution, & the international treaties we have signed & ratified simply don’t apply to this one guy. It’s maddening.
No mention at all of the fact that Trump doesn't have the legal authority to do this, that plans haven't even been reviewed (because the office is closed for the government shutdown), that the size and cost estimates keep changing, etc., etc.
Part of White House Is Reduced to Rubble. Trump’s Ballroom Will Rise in Its Place.
