This is why I argue that (ostensibly) progressive movements & parties should stop aiming for the ‘reasonable centre’.
Your ‘pragmatic politics’ is just ceding ground to the right & shifting the centre along the way. It’s essential to commit to progressive values & insist on the politics of hope.

Reminds me of when Mitch McConnell refused to let President Obama fill a scotus seat. It was completely a partisan stall tactic that was completely anti-democratic and the media barely ever pointed it out. It's part of Johnson's job to swear in elected House members. Period.

(🚨) I’ve deleted a post that included what turned out to be a convincing-but-fake screenshot of an alleged Vance tweet. While the part of the tweet defending racist, antisemitic and misogynist remarks as harmless was similar to things Vance is confirmed to have said, the Oval Office tack-on was not.
