Vance has spent months yelling at Ukraine for not being nice enough to Trump, Europe for not tolerating far-right fascists, Canada for refusing our generous offer of statehood. So yes, we have built a foreign policy of hectoring, moralizing and lecturing. The man has the self-awareness of a turnip.
Seeing a leader of the United States adopt this line is revolting. While the US remains imperfect, it is also the global leader in FDI as well as the world’s leading destination for inbound investment. China would love to have an economy like America’s.

Yesterday I was up on that pipeline route and a First Nation land guardian was explaining to me the riskiness of shipping oil on those waterways and I kept thinking: how f-ing broke is Canada that it’s thinking of doing this? This is ‘selling your kidney’ level of desperation.
Lets face it, this is a good day for oil companies, businesses, and those in the oil sector. Its a bad day for the environment and for reconciliation with Indigenous nations whose lands this thing will go over. As Blanchet stated, this is the official end of Canada's climate commitments.

Here’s the thing, emerging scientists aren’t going to flee to do science elsewhere…they just won’t do the science.

We will lose at least one, if not two generations of knowledge if we don’t get this shit sorted out immediately.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?

This Alberta pediatrician captures something clinicians everywhere feel but rarely articulate this clearly:

Systems fail in patterned ways.
Families absorb the cost.
Governments sell “choice” while walking away from their duties.

Worth your time:
New CHW Perspective:

an Alberta pediatrician describes how structural gaps in care are shaping families' lives, and argues that the province’s new “dual-practice” model risks making things worse.

Alberta isn’t fixing healthcare. It’s abandoning it.

Prison rape is wrong.

Jokes about prison rape are wrong.

Eliminating protections against prison rape is wrong.

If another country sentenced a criminal to be raped, we'd consider it a crime against humanity.

BUT

A large segment of Americans regard prison rape as a de facto part of the sentence.
