So, uhhh, are doxxers on Twitter coordinatng with state-sponsored hackers? Getting your bank info etc. feels like more than just a simple dox.

important note from libcrusher:
Reactivating temporarily to send a warning.
Since I got doxxed, it appears the same doxxing ring has targeted several other users. I learned that they were banned this week, only for Elon to, apparently, personally unban them. I feel obliged to warn everyone about my experience.

It wasn't just my personal information that got published. Someone, somewhere, got my passwords too. For my banking accounts, brokerage accounts, venmo, etc.
Most of which had different and unique passwords. All these attempts started the day i got doxxed, and have sporadically continued since. If you know anyone who's been doxxed by this group, you need to have them change all their passwords on every website immediately. Ensure 2FA and any other security measures are in place everywhere.
And, wherever possible, document and report it. Frankly, if you're a lefty of any note, do it now too

If anyone was also a victim of this or knows someone who was, there are ways to reach me. I wish I could go into more details right now. But until that time comes, protect yourself.

I will be deactivating in 20 minutes.
Hopefully, that's enough time for the warning to get out.

So a Republican before the Southern Strategy? Who’s wishcasting now?
untimelygamer.bsky.social
Republicans, whatever their behavior over the decades, always wanted this. Trump is not an aberration; he is the endpoint of their entire ideology.
untimelygamer.bsky.social
This is honestly my take. Sure, "the Republicans have always been like this" is a simplification; nobody denies that this moment is worse than others and that the guardrails are off. But also thinking synchronically about the Republicans as being always this bad reveals much more than the opposite.
untimelygamer.bsky.social
Yes, it may be a simplification, but I will always say "they were always like this" because it lays out the sources and causes of our current moment very clearly.

The problem is, the opposite simplification "the Republicans weren't always like this" leads to people imagining that Trump came out of nowhere and that there is room for them to wake up. Which leads to even more ridiculous priors.

For those wondering why everybody is leaving Twitter now, it is because American people did not elect Mitt Romney in 2012.

he talks like this to the president and I mean this as a compliment we need more of that because it's about the only language those people understand

I am pretty religious in my belief that Dems should not go on Fox News, but if you are going to do it, this is how it's done.
brianstelter.bsky.social
Zohran Mamdani uses his appearance on Fox News to "speak directly to the president," since "he might be watching right now."

Mamdani looks straight into the Fox camera as he says this >>>

There are definitely irrational scolds on here—and every person disagrees about who they are or what they stand for—but a lot of people just call others "scolds" because they don't want to change their behavior or think about their consumption habits.

i'm not going to chide or scold anyone for only now leaving twitter. your private, unspoken acknowledgment that i'm your intellectual and moral superior is all i need

Holy shit. This is Angelo Elia, a legislative correspondent for Congressman Dave Taylor.

According to @rooster.info, during a Zoom meeting today, he had an American nazi flag displayed in the background.

The "ethical body" is the people you are referring to "as being super judgmental" about your Substack, which is what you were complaining about.
untimelygamer.bsky.social
And also about "commitment to our shared Democratic project"--the decades of blatant voter suppression, and literally the Republican Supreme Court deciding the president in 2000, would like a word.
untimelygamer.bsky.social
And that is a fucking ridiculous position. The same "all of them" have been building toward this fascist project, explicitly. Trump's biggest simps on the Supreme Court, Thomas and Alito, were Bush appointees (Sr. and Jr., respectively). Trump did not come out of nowhere.
untimelygamer.bsky.social
But getting off of one Nazi platform doesn't give you a pass to use another. I understand why you think such people are annoying, but also: Substack is bad and run by bad people.

(1) "Defund the police" has never actually meant "zero out a police department's budget"
(2) Politiicans have won on "defund the police" platforms
(3) You're still avoiding the question. What great leaders was Pelosi talking about? What Republicans over the last 50 years are acceptable?
untimelygamer.bsky.social
Pretty much? And the thing is, they never even had to lie to her: The Federalist Society etc. has been explicitly building toward fascism for decades now. And the Democrats, including Pelosi, aren't exactly anti-fascist. Some parts of fascism they like, which is why they keep giving $ to cops
untimelygamer.bsky.social
I'm not going to scold people personally for still being on Twitter at this late date, but I will definitely be raising my eyebrow and mutter to myself "What the hell is wrong with you?"
untimelygamer.bsky.social
(1) What the hell are you going on about? Everybody is talking about one Pelosi quote. Her record or whatever is not at issue here. (2) I will note that you are not telling me what Republican is a "great leader"
untimelygamer.bsky.social
(1) They so badly want stochastic terrorism against the protestors (2) This will backfire, because violence will force the news to cover these protests, rather than ignore them.

Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"
untimelygamer.bsky.social
How is that different than wishcasting a Republican party with "strong leaders"?

I want to know from everybody defending Pelosi, what Republican leader from the last fifty or so years they are thinking of. Because all of them have been building toward this project, a president who can do anything.

yeah 15-20 years ago they didn't have group chats so they didn't write stuff like that down, they'd just say it out loud to eachother at parties, usually without a paper trail

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.
