the national lottery funds pretty much every significant art event and even lots of small ones, and at every one they specifically thank them in a speech or major placard or something
“and i’d like to thank the local bookie and the ol’ lady who pulls the fruit machine 40 times an hour” - every UK arts event, probably

(farkin’ gross)

(i know it’s not their fault)

fuck vercel, fuck Next.js, fuck Svelte, fuck Turborepo, fuck SWR, fuck SWC

Posing with the architect of a genocide for sales leads is an insane and deeply immoral stance

these projects cannot separate themselves from the CEO of the company who funds them
(i actually know why it’s because it’s framed as shitting on Americans and vague “chemicals” woo woo)
I LOVE COLD CHAINS.

cannot fathom why a random italian in a tiktok would brag about their lack of a cold chain (they don’t do it explicitly) and the fact their veggies go off after like just a couple of days

You could just talk about Jim Crow. I promise you, there's no need to leave America's shores to talk about life in a fascist state
Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

It's very telling that these new powers for the police to beak up mass protests only came about as a result of Palestine Action, yet when racists were gathering in their thousands last year and burning down hotels, there wasn't anything to be done.

I'd actually forgotten how extraordinary it is that when I won the leadership - I wasn't interviewed as it was too close to our party conference interviewed.

And then refused a second time!

Part of the antidote to all of this is creating our own media platforms.

Hey @boldpolitics.bsky.social 👋🏼
BBC accused of 'extraordinary' anti-Green bias after party say the Laura Kuenssberg Show scrapped a promised interview with @zackpolanski.bsky.social on Sunday.

Green sources say the show also refused to interview Polanski after he was elected as leader last month

Jay watching videos of UW students chasing... an arm raiser:

Wow, harrassing that arm-raiser will never work
reducing protest to harrassment is... an interesting choice. what is going on up there?
Harassing the mods into banning someone has never worked. And harassing people in general has never changed their mind.
seriously. gi- has like 4+ major pronunciations in Vietnam! Tr is pronounced Ch- by both southerners and northerners (it’s really only Tr in like middle-country and young Saigon folk), people guess pronouns and literally duel pronouns all the time (both people are em)
source: I made a Vietnamese Dictionary

You’re doing great!!!!
okay except for the ngh/nh thing you mentioned. every other thing you mentioned is a /legitimate/ authentic thing that vietnamese people in vietnam do. there’s just a lot of nonsense about official dialects but in reality *no one* speaks those

The British Podcast Awards featured a strange “glitch” that everyone found amusing; but has interesting implications. Most of the winners were upstairs in the cheap balcony seats, meaning there was a few minutes’ delay on almost EVERY award as the winners went down the back stairs to the stage. >>

Tell me again, cultural critic, how you don't believe the BDS approach is effective and that their demands are unrealistic because you don't want to stop playing with your toys.

i honestly don't see the difference between a caffeinated cola and a coffee - caffeine, sugar, herby bitter flavours. it's really just class nonsense that separates them

(i'm not saying they taste the same, just their relative considered fanciness/appropriateness as a morning beverage)
it’s their claim that they’re a community garden, and get funding. not my claim, by the way.
there’s a group in belfast that have managed to secure access to public land, and funding by claiming to be a community garden. but it’s only open like 2 hours a week to the public.

Belfast in a nutshell. friends of the field my arse.

Is there anything these people actually like about the country they were elected to govern?
Right. My students working two part time jobs and/or having an hour and a half commute to uni because they have to live at home due to the cost of student accommodation lack drive and vigour. Sure thing, Peter. The UK Govt still haven't a clue about the realities of universities today.
bonjour konnichiwa
something i low key believe and have not thought about deeply at all is you’re allowed to culturally appropriate any country that has occupied your or your heritage countries
