I don't see how this isn't disqualifying for an officer of the court.

Joe Maligno (“Can we fix the showers? Gas chambers don’t fit the Hitler aesthetic,”) is listed as assoc. attorney to Staten Island Civil Court Judge Mary Kavanagh, a fellow member of Staten Island Young Republicans.

Noone appearing before her can expect a fair hearing. She should resign.

What a fantastic and effective message. It centers the humanity of trans New Yorkers, it reminds us of the debt we owe for not adequately supporting those that came before us, and clearly identifies steps we can take in the short term to provide that support to current and future generations.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I ordered mine last night for the inevitable post-Mamdani-win invasion of NYC.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

The Republican position is that, before treating a kid with a gunshot wound, the EMTs should first check his or her citizenship status and if the kid can't pass muster they're left to bleed out on the street.

It seems to me that's a pretty effective ad the Democrats could make pretty quickly.

Yes, very smart.

When I go to mass this weekend I'm going to tell the parish it's misleading to call the priest a Christian because hey, he's not Jesus Christ.

This took less than two minutes and the person answering the call seemed to genuinely register the positive comment. My impression is that they are tallying feedback.

1. Led by Elon Musk, the far-right has exploded in a campaign to get Netflix to remove shows with queer and trans characters.

If Netflix capitulates to their demands, an already strained market for LGBTQ+ animators might become even more dire.

Musk's posts have been seen by tens of millions of users, and many conservatives are now attempting to force Netflix into a removal of LGBTQ+ content.

I was wondering who was responsible for this piece.

It really should be tied to him like Marley's chains.

Thank you for covering this.

Do you know--if the funding is restored through a lawsuit, is there an avenue for recovering the funds lost due to construction escalation and fees resulting from the delays?

I just called Schumer's office at (212) 486-4430 and got through to a live staff member. That tells me not enough people are calling to encourage him to stay strong in this fight.

Looking forward to all the titans of industry and "respected leaders" calling out the Republican party's attack on New York City.

@nybuildingcongress.bsky.social, the ball is in your court.

Here's a list of Democrats that thought she was qualified for this position:

Baldwin, Bennet, Booker, Cortez-Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Gallego, Hassan, Heinrich, Hickenlooper, Klobuchar, Ossoff, Peters, Rosen, Schiff, Shaheen, Slotkin, Warnock, Welch.

When I canvassed for Harris in 2024 I met several women who were upset that Joe Biden had repealed Roe v. Wade.

Maybe at some point @spectrumnewsny1.bsky.social could ask @manhattanda.bsky.social if throwing someone to the ground like this is part of an officer's official duties or if it's grounds for assault charges.

One concrete thing folks can do that are outraged by this is to call @governor.ny.gov Hochul at 518-474-8390 and demand she recall the legislature to pass the New York for All Act (A3506/S2235) that would prevent state and local agencies across the state from coordinating with ICE.

Thanks! I ask because in 2024 I went to Scranton every weekend in October and Lackawanna Dems seemed... not great. This year I'd like to canvas where it's more effective.
tonyalfieri.bsky.social
As someone putting in the work, are there organizations or efforts you'd recommend folks in neighboring states should connect with to be supportive?
tonyalfieri.bsky.social
It sounds like there's really no need then to for Democrats to participate in budget negotiations if the President can nullify any agreement he wants after the fact.

@schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social should pull their caucuses away and let the Republicans pass their budget.

I don't know how to make it clearer to Dems that the more you waffle on this and invite debate, the more it's a political vulnerability. The more Dems equivocate the more they invite these types of heinous ads. You either stand up for trans folks proudly or you get hit with these ads.
Alt text: Screenshot of a post on X (Twitter) by Terry Schilling (@Schilling1776) attacking Rep. Mikie Sherrill. The post claims she wants to protect “violent They/Them trans radicals instead of your children,” followed by questions: “How many more innocent school children by trans radicals? How many more Charlie Kirk’s?” The attached video still shows Mikie Sherrill’s face with large red glitch-text reading “THEY / THEM INSTEAD OF YOUR CHILDREN.” A reply from user Dex (@NbcuniDex) says, “this shoulda been a midterm ad,” to which Schilling responds, “My friend. Plans have been made.” Timestamp: 9:46 PM, Sept 25, 2025, with 25 views.

I'd be curious if anyone could get a statement from @manhattanda.bsky.social (who is up for re-election this year) as to why his office isn't investigating these kinds of assaults and abuses of civil rights.
tonyalfieri.bsky.social
Will your team be investigating the assault today that took place at 26 Federal Plaza?
bradlander.bsky.social
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)
