Just got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks.

I hesitate to wade into the ‘discourse’ too heavily, but having been both a street organizer and a journalist at diff times (and often feel that that work can intersect in meaningful ways) my $0.02 is that journalists cannot expect access at all times and must work hard to earn the trust 1/?

My 7yo daughter’s best friends’ family fled the country a few weeks ago. Today she came home with a drawing of her and another friend blowing whistles at ICE agents.
“We’re blowing the whistles and so ICE will go away and our friends can come back,” she said.
I started sobbing uncontrollably.
