in the future, I hope a documentary will be made about Levitation Room. Each member has a unique story of growing up in L.A., coming together through the city’s punk scene, and now touring the world rocking the stage with their psychedelic jams
their sound is soaked in echo and reverb, paying tribute to the late ‘60s psych movement while incorporating the realities of Los Angeles
Last Wednesday they played at the Paramount in Boyle Heights— their first show at home after touring the East Coast in September. They opened up for the OG’s ‘Os Mutantes’ from São Paulo, Brazil.
The first time I saw Levitation Room perform was at a small venue 8 years ago, and their music felt like watching time bend. I had the opportunity to sit down with them and write a short piece on their psychedelic musical journey

Army vet George Retes Jr. was trying to get to work on July 10 at Glass House during an ICE raid. He was handcuffed and jailed for 3 days without explanation. After he wrote about his arrest, DHS accused him of assault, which he called a baffling accusation.
