I am. But there are three things at play here regarding ICE collecting private data. Quick rundown on the issue, why you should be paying attention, and what I'm doing about it:
So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

Probably the most successful piece of legislation in US history, measured by social benefit generated per dollar spent. Also wildly popular, across demographics.

Without any public discussion or consultation of Congress, the Trump administration has effectively killed it.
The Trump administration has “virtually stopped enforcing the Clean Air Act,” lodging just one consent decree in a relatively small case since Trump’s inauguration, compared with 26 in the first year of Trump's first term, & 22 in Biden’s first year. peer.org/under-epas-z... 1/

While we are waiting for the verdict and for tire manufacturers to reformulate to remove the chemical, we should all drive less. The tire crumbs wouldn't be going into waterways if we didn't drive so much, and in such big vehicles

The Trump admin is scrambling because the secret police it sends out for kidnappings and rioting has been killing people on video then brazenly lying about it, but Schumer's instinct is to whip his caucus into taking a position *more conservative* than that held by the median voter.

He's got to go.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.

Big reason I love @theoverheadwire.com’s Talking Headways is that it gives space for topics that rarely make the highlight reel of urbanist talks.

This ep focuses on light in urban spaces. Treating night as its own space entirely is a fascinating idea.

One of the hardest things to do is bring campaign-level communications to the work of governance, and snowstorms are notoriously one of the biggest litmus tests that less-engaged voters use to judge mayoral administrations. This is an excellent way to communicate.

What strips this operation of any legitimate pretense is that it has made no gesture of regret or even restraint after twice killing random people.

After murdering Renee Good, they went to Roosevelt just hours later to fight with students. After murdering Alex Pretti, there is no evident pullback.
Even as the National Guard is deployed in a perimeter around half my neighborhood to try to prevent ICE’s campaign of violence from boiling over, ICE continues to send lurking cars of armed feds on patrol around the city and stage shows of force around the region. Insane. Unthinkable
