Every one deserves to eat. It’s that simple.
I’m not on here much at all these days. When I am I usually nope out pretty quickly. That said, I’m glad the TL put this in front of me first thing. Wonderfully said (truly), fully felt, much needed.

Thank you, far away friend, and I hope you’re feeling some love and support in return 🧡

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

If I could tag along in my lil Mazda, I’d adore this :)

More:
- Patrick Ness’s “The Knife of Never Letting Go” & sequels (sci-fi, but very fantastical sci-fi); highly rec going in with no prior knowledge
- Howl’s Moving Castle & the other Howl books, Jones (v diff than movie!)
- Inkheart, Funke
- The Mirror Visitor, Dabos (so good, so underappreciated!)

More:
- The Phantom Tollbooth (sadly not a series)
- Mysterious Benedict Society (no magic but very cartoony in a fantastical way) (tv show was terrific, too)
- all of Dahl obviously
- Ray Bradbury’s short stories
- Gormenghast is GREAT for tweens/teens

More:
- Tiffany Aching, Pratchett
- Prydain, Alexander (great as a pre-LOTR series imo)
- Dark Is Rising, Cooper
- His Dark Materials (hits real hard for weirdo smart kids)
- Graceling, Cashore (I mistakenly read them in order 1-3-2 and actually might recommend that)
- Queen’s Thief, Turner
Non-HP MG/YA series that are rich in magic & exploration & coming-of-age, & are actually really really good, to share with kids in your life:
- Lioness Rampant, Pierce
- Chrestomanci, Jones
- Percy Jackson
- A Wrinkle In Time!!!!!
- URSULA LE GUIN’S EARTHSEA BOOKS
- Akata Witch / Akata Warrior!!!!
Every single thing you like and admire and find illuminating or thrilling about HP exists in other books, movies, & series EXCEPT the birth-to-death-scale entertainment-industrial infrastructure of merch and licensing

People not willing to see anti trans policy as part of deeply entrenched gender and anti-bodily autonomy ideology cause they want to see trans people as separate from the “real“ people and politics
Reposted by Gidget
Bottom line is that anti trans politics is part of fascist politics and you can’t fight fascism by taking on and surrendering to its ideas

/7 It’s easy to say why. Saying “you can prosecute flag burning as incitement because it makes people really mad” allows you to say “you can’t criticize Israel/denounce Trump/preach Islam/say reality TV suck because it makes people so mad.” It limits speech to what thug trash will tolerate.

Facebook reminded me that today is the anniversary of Wide Pike.
Sometimes I think about the period in history where some folks (basically Brits) thought they were poisonous, despite them being eaten for centuries in other cultures, and all the delicious things they missed out on (including eating a freshly picked tomato like an apple) for ~200 years
At 5 or 6 I’d sit in the car (safely in the garage) & pretend to drive it. One hand on the shifter, one on the wheel, feet nowhere near the pedals. Upshift, downshift, tire squeals & zoomy noises as I moved my tiny body side to side to mimic being in turns.

Guess the need to drive started young :)
I did manage to find Dad’s X1/9 keys, which made me smile so it wasn’t all bad!
Typically I find things that make me laugh or good-cry in this mess I’ve been going through. Today I found some letters that made me bad-cry (I’m ok) and that really is one of the harder parts of going through old boxes of things that belong to other long-gone people.
I love this time of year bc it means the best tomato & mayo sandwiches, BLTs, caprese, tomato & cucumber salad (many variations of this), tomato sections, etc. But my fave is tomato & ricotta toast—but you gotta use the crusty garlic bread where they bake cloves of roasted garlic into it 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Krissy canned 18 quarts of tomatoes today and we still have a ridiculous amount still on the vine. On the other hand, I did take a ripe tomato right off the vine today, slice it up, season it with salt and pepper and then eat the whole damn thing, so this should not be construed as a complaint
I absolutely love that you went all in and included accessories!

The thing about Mamdani in this moment is that he is telling people that they do not have to simply accept what's on offer [and you see how much powerful interests HATE that]. He is doing this in just a couple of areas. Others could do the same focusing on the areas of life that most speak to them.
