the average person has basically no idea just how many security cameras are left on their default password—if there is one at all—for their entire service life. it keeps me up at night sometimes
SCOOP: Flock left at least 60 of its AI-powered, people-tracking surveillance cameras exposed and livestreaming to the open internet. We tracked ourselves. The exposure highlights the power of these cameras and types of things they're tracking. Not just cars.

hard to overstate how bad this is for discrimination against everyone but white people.

I'm saying we are undergoing a wholesale revision of equal protection and anti-discrimination law so that it only protects white people.

Let me explain:
This makes facially neutral policies--like poll taxes and literacy tests--that we know were adopted for discriminatory purposes legal. Organizations can now simply claim there was no discriminatory intent regardless of outcome. It's unconstrained institutionalized racism.

Porco Rosso and the Aesthetics of Fascism
Porco Rosso creates a visual language for the anti-fascist politics at its center, undermining key components of the fascist aesthetic.

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...

John has written a phenomenal book on George Washington and his relationship to slavery. I learned so much. I hope it’s widely assigned in schools and widely read by everyone.
When @clintsmithiii.bsky.social agreed to blurb my book, I NEVER imagined he’d call it “exceptional” and certainly not “how history should be done.” Clint’s amazing work is read and respected by every public historian I know. Having kind words from him is a real honor. bookshop.org/p/books/thy-...

Also, notice how fire does not care what's in its path it will just burn down an entire home. Imagine this happening while you are asleep. By the time you smell smoke it may be too late to escape. Make sure your smoke alarms are working.

trans kids should have access to healthcare. same as cis kids. ANYTHING that their parents and doctors think would have a positive impact. Not complicated.

This is horrifying (and today). Congress shouldn't be picking on trans kids, full stop. This improves the lives of no one and only puts lives and livelihoods at risk.
Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.
