Alice Wong was one of the most effective people challenging the Whiteness of disability communities and its many flaws, but who believed fiercely in us as a community, in disabled people as oracles.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.

I’m crying. I didn’t know Alice Wong personally, but as a disabled person I felt her kinship & I’ll carry her as an ancestor for however long I have left on this earth 💔

Really difficult to see the fibro community enthusiastically and unsuspectingly share a preprint on fibromygia that is obviously part of the bps movement’s current efforts to create a biological underpinning for their psychosomatic claims, and which undermines fibro as a biomedical illness.
This preprint is part of the current frantic efforts of the psychosomatic/bps movement to keep their slipping hold on these conditions by “proving” the biology of their claim that they are primarily a matter of perception & psyche-driven, to be helped with mind-body interventions. 1/x

Absolutely correct. So much of the discourse around restoring trust in the institutions is focused on decorum and civility theater. But why would anyone trust the institutions if, after the horror show that we are suffering through, they yet again fail to impose some measure of real accountability?
Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Only 36% saw improvement after nearly 3 years of symptoms.

Almost 90% were on long-term sick leave and 97% rated their care as poor or very poor.

I was the young, fit, healthy person TPTB insist would be just fine contracting Covid. My long-Covid isn’t as severe as Jessica’s but it destroyed my life nonetheless, permanently derailing my career due to irreversible brain damage MCAS, clots, fatigue, and progressive organ damage.

Mask up.
So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

Living with Long COVID often feels like living in a horror movie. Along with your disease comes a creepy Hive Mind refusal to acknowledge the dangers of COVID infection. In Vince Gilligan's new Apple TV show Pluribus, the Hive Mind comes to life:

That you must “earn” everything, even food, housing and healthcare.

How do you earn it? By working until you die.

It teaches people to see children, the elderly & disabled as expendable.

It enriches the wealthy only
