I think the older and more radical I become the less I care about "it could happen to you" appeals to emotion. even if it never happens to you, it happens to someone, and that matters. people should learn to care about others beyond the scope of themselves and engage in radical love.

So this wasn't the customer's first idea which was more celestial themed. But we agreed the second idea would be so cool, I couldn't pass up "a tea set that a siren who sinks ships would have." It was incredibly fun to paint.

Thing with TLH is so hilarious it is making me wish for something in this vein for my rare pair OTP. Will settle for them being cameos in each other’s dramas (unlikely despite them being in the same small ent-circle… 😆✨🤣🤭 Not that it matters because I still have my headcanons for their characters.

So I think about this a lot--work hazard--and I think there are a couple of different things going on here. The most obvious issue w/ dystopian sci fi is well-known: compassionate people read it as a warning; sociopaths read it as an instruction manual. But IMO there's more to it than that--
