The amount of people confused that Troye Sivan is Aussie and/or Jewish is wild like where did you think this boy came from if you don’t remember him singing Jewish music on YouTube?

There are so many conspiracy theories I see on my timeline conflicted by some extremely well-reputed journalistic reporting, and it just feels so grim.

His usage of the New York Jewish-common usage “shul” rather than “synagogue” is so telling
"When I am Mayor, I will work every day to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe—on our streets, our subways, at shul, in every moment of every day. Let this be a purpose shared by every New Yorker, and let us banish this horrific violence to the past."

Hanukkah begins tonight as we remember the world needs more light.

In Sydney, families gathered on a beach to celebrate the start of Hanukkah. They were met with gunfire. At least twelve are dead, twenty-nine wounded—terror aimed at joy itself.

A deeply sad morning, with heartbreaking mass killings in Providence & Sydney.

Innocent students killed in a classroom. At least 11 people by gunmen at a Hanukkah celebration.

Too many guns here. Frightening levels of antisemitism globally. So much senseless violence & hate.

I went to Hiroshima recently and the city’s goal is peace. The tour guides around the atom bomb ground zero present all war & all deaths at the hands of intentional humans as bad. I hate that we live in a world where people act like the choice to enable guns is anything but a choice to enable death.

I'm betting that somehow Ahmed Al Ahmed's ethnicity will not become the basis for loads of sweeping conclusions about multiculturalism.

One of the things about being Jewish is that the calendar ritually mandates that you be sad some days and joyful other days regardless of what is happening in the world, and I think about that every time Jews get slaughtered on a ritually joyful day.

Putting a global artist who won't even tour in the US bc it's not safe for his community & core fans on the biggest televised US stage matters.
