Right side: the cover of ‘Storytellers’ by Bjørn Larssen.

Left side – review quotes:
★★★★★ This story feels like how I would believe Iceland feels to an outsider looking in, rough, dark, and beautiful.
★★★★★ Bjørn Larssen’s “Storytellers”, firmly cements his place as a masterful storyteller in a 20th century saga set in rural and rugged Iceland.
★★★★★ If you don't believe that the blacksmith, a depressive alcoholic, could steal your heart, give this book a try.
★★★★★ This unique tale is storytelling at its best.
★★★★★ Storytellers is an incredible read. I'd love to go to Iceland one day - seeing the Northern Lights is on my bucket list. Even if I never do, though, I feel like I've kind of been there with this book. A suspenseful, hilarious, poignant, extraordinary book.
★★★★★ Hauntingly atmospheric, it somehow shows us all the dark bleakness of the place while inspiring us with wanderlust to see it. The author's love of Iceland shines through.
★★★★★ This exquisite tale comes together brilliantly at the end … in quite a satisfying and impressive way. The reader can feel the heart and soul that went into writing it.
★★★★★ There is something magical and enchanting about Storytellers that makes it an unputdownable book.

Yup, that’s exactly what I’m doing :)

They should have put ChatGPTs on speaker and had their phones converse with each other. (That could be interesting.)

I used to play with it in the beginning because I was depressed and it was so confidently wrong about everything it made me smile. I was like, LOL this is never going to get far once people find out… (I also thought iPhones would never catch up, who would want a phone without a keyboard?)

Haha, I would rewrite chunks of my first book (from 2019) if not for the fact that it would break WhisperSync in the audiobook. It’s the only thing that stops me…

Exciting, a new book in two days! ♥️ I’ll be sharing your promo posts, so please make some :)

This article keeps on giving. ‘By the time they’d been on their third date, though, “I was using ChatGPT for our entire communication,” says Francesca. “I wasn’t even replying any more – he was basically just dating ChatGPT.” In person, their dates still lacked spark.’

I’m 99.99% sure nobody notices, because they don’t know what I was aiming for. It’s a forest fire scene. I wanted the reader to nervously check whether their clothes aren’t smouldering a bit. It’s not *that* good.

In unrelated news, I am a perfectionist.

#WIPSnips Today, Sif – the Goddess of gold-diggers (at Freya’s request) (long story) – discovers who exactly is going to marry Thor. Hint: IT IS SIF.

Book I:
www.bjornlarssen.com/whyodindrinks
“I see her closer now,” whispered Sif, lifting her innocent – she practiced innocence twice a day – gaze to meet the green-eyed God’s. She hid a frown. The table between them meant she’d have to swoon diagonally. “She shines with light of purity and… and gold… oh… her hair…”
“No, you don’t!” snapped Freya.
“Oh!” cried Sif, who wasn’t quite finished, but Odin-as-a-witch jumping to his feet authentically scared her. “Oh!” Letting go of Thor’s hand she fell on the table, rolling off it as gracefully as one could roll off the table while swooning and expecting to get caught before hitting the floor.
It didn’t go exactly as she hoped. Thor jumped to his feet. The table smashed into the wall. Sif, who wasn’t entirely done falling off it, let out a yelp. Freya tripped over Ginger and also fell, barely managing not to plant face-down into a pile of magical objects with a cross-bow on top.

Congratulations! I once rewrote a scene 40-50 times – I lost count – until it felt right. And there’s one in my second book that I have also rewritten 40-50 times and it never felt exactly right, not even now. Sigh.

Do I count as a literary critic if I am a part-time book blogger? (Very small part.) Because I have many fashion-forward ideas.

‘She has turned to AI herself to help improve her profiles […] “I’ve also asked it for help with opening lines, especially when I didn’t know what to say. Once or twice I thought my matches were using it on me, too – their replies felt too polished, like they weren’t really listening”’

‘Rich went back and forth with ChatGPT until he felt they’d hit upon exactly the right message (“Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you”) but sadly she never replied, he says. “It’s been two weeks now.”’

You need to update to ChatGPT Pro, Rich, then she’ll reply.
‘I realised I’d been ChatGPT-ed into bed’: how ‘Chatfishing’ made finding love on dating apps even weirder
Where once people were duped by soft-focus photos and borrowed chat-up lines, now they have to watch out for computer-generated charm. But it’s one thing to use a witty phrase – another thing entirely...

#WIPSnips Today, Odin demands to be taught more seiðr. The definition of seiðr for the needs of #WhyOdinDrinks is…not academically confirmed.

I just noticed the grammar needs help. My editor’s problem. This is a #WIP. Sorry.

Book I:
www.bjornlarssen.com/whyodindrinks
When time for Odin’s next lesson came, Freya wasn’t dreading it, because she had entirely forgotten, obsessed with reputation she should have. Would she rather be overestimated or underestimated? Smile warmly or have her teeth sharpened, even if the visual alone made them itch? She could bestow love on people as reward or curse them with it – she idly wondered whether jarl Bolesław and his dog found their happily-ever-after. Should those people (except jarl Bolesław) know about her power?
“Oh,” she welcomed the frowning All-Father, “it’s you. Howdy?”
The wrinkles between Odin’s eye and black hole deepened. “I would like to fly.”
“So, feeling good?”
“Tone,” he snapped. “I can shift. I can’t fly. Something goes wonky. Teach me, you’re a very good eagle.”
“A falcon,” Freya muttered. Wrinkles between her eyes were gorgeous, if involuntary.
It was another of those things she couldn’t explain. She just did it. What was flight? Walking, in general, involved having something under one’s feet. Wingless creatures only ever suddenly found themselves not having anything under their feet when they were either very distracted, or in the process of falling into a trap.

1600 words earlier, and now another 825 on the current WIP, giving me a total of 54,820 and my favourite bit of writing for today:

Euphemia McGillicuddy was in the kitchen of her very large 'rather modest' home frying up a mass of bacon, ready for when he husband got home.
