I spent yesterday in a deep depression spiral for hours, crying, because of some of the comments i saw people making about these men, men with similar body types to mine. I would love for us to move on from talking about people's appearance and talk about their shitty politics instead please.

Also, too, sarcastic jokes about individual fat and/or conventionally unattractive fash being "the master race" (yes, including the one from Preacher) rely on and reinforce the idea that there IS a hierarchy of superior/inferior types of human, but those guys are just wrong about their place in it.

We could just listen to and believe each other. Many on here are relating stronger experiences of seeing overt and not so overt Nazism than I did. I believe them. Meanwhile racism and homophobia were definitely rampant in all my circles to different extents.

Tbh I had my own experiences growing up in religious evangelicalism, fundamentalist Baptist schools, Republican politics, and while some of what people are saying I don’t relate to, others I do.

I kinda think we all had our different experiences and instead of arguing over what was real or not….

The United States is in material breach of over five hundred - yes, 500 - legally binding treaties with Indigenous nations.

And lest you say that's because of Trump, we were in breach of at least 350 under both of the last two Democratic administrations.

So yes, we are an illegal occupation.

Conquering and colonization is the way people acquired land at that time in history. It was uncivilized and involved violence and yet that's how land was acquired.

You fought over it and, if you won, it became yours. I acknowledge that's how America came to be. I also acknowledge colonization was a bad thing for indigenous populations.

But I think you're reaching pretty far to try to claim America is an ongoing illegal occupation in present day.
