A comment from an American treasure, on Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the nation’s nominally-top diplomat.
Marco Rubio knew the truth 9 years ago, but he sold his soul for power. Yet he was correct: He will one day have to explain his support for Trump, and this is not going to end well.

For context: Jack served as head of the Office of Legal Counsel during the Bush administration. He’s widely regarded—especially in conservative legal circles—as a leading authority on executive power. The fact that he’s expressing this view in such stark terms is significant.
Harvard Law School’s Jack Goldsmith:

“In short, if the Post’s facts are correct, it appears that Special Operations Forces committed murder when the ‘two men were blown apart in the water, as the Post put it.’”

I have no idea what will happen in the Tennessee special, but if the Dem does win, we're gonna get a major Trump/GOP in trouble frenzy.

(That said: it's quite possible Trump's approval will bump up a bit soon, with a post-shutdown recovery delayed by Epstein week. Unless there's more bad news!).
In our latest polling averages over at FiftyPlusOne, Trump has hit a new low of 39.6% in his second-term job approval (-17 on net), and Republicans just hit a new low of 41.3% in the 2026 House generic ballot (Dems +4.2 on margin).

Good news. But hard to imagine Habba herself will actually pay it. And if grossly unethical attorney misconduct comes with no meaningful sanction felt by the attorney, hard to see it as an effective deterrent against lawyers for rich clients. Bar licensure matters: NJ/NY/CT.
NEW: An unanimous appeals court panel — authored by conservative Judge William Pryor and joined by Trump appointee Andrew Brasher — upheld a $1 million sanction againt Trump/Habba for filing a "frivolous" lawsuit against Hillary Clinton

Of course this is happening - not as a staff coup, but by Trump's orders. The entire administration has been set up to prevent Trump from ever having to deal with being contradicted by reality.
At this point, I wonder if he isn't lying when he says he has "my highest Poll Numbers, ever" since it's entirely possible that's what his aides are telling him. It's quite likely that there's an entire Potemkin village built around Trump right now.

Two thoughts after reading Sister, Sinner, Claire Hoffman’s biography of Aimee Semple McPherson:

1. In the past, anything that was happening was a thing to do, because there was nothing to do.

2. Many people have always been desperate to be told that there is a secret way to control their health.
