A 3 hour long lecture at the 100 level?

Oof.

Interesting thread to consider.

"jim crow inspired the nuremberg laws" is a corruption of what actually happened, which is that nazi lawyers looked at jim crow laws hoping to mine its justifications and language for the creation of legal race categories, and by and large outright failed

Post like this and I unfollow and mute. This is erasing centuries of European pogroms and other violence prior to WWII by making America the sin-eater for the entire Western world. I won't have it and I won't let it slide:

We’re starting yet another week where House Republicans are on paid vacation instead of in Washington working with us to end this shutdown.

Our health care system is about to go off a cliff. Get back here and help us find a solution.

Basically, if any of Trump's admin is sued, they're going to move to have the government become the defendent under the Westfall Act, and then the case will be dismissed under the FTCA.

The only thing that will happen is a judge will get annoyed.

And probably not just yours, either.

Especially in university labs, numerous departments share one -80 freezer.
stemthebleeding.bsky.social
Two main problems.

1) the reason you're storing things at -80 is to prevent them from "coming alive", so to speak.

2) the -80 freezer is almost never just for one individual experiment.

Or department.

Well they flipped your cake so it's only fair you did the same to their tip.

Happy Birthday, Alysson. Hopefully you finally got your churro cake.

Also, the only thing easier for the police to track than a govt helicopter being lased is a signed confession being hand delivered.

Just.

Back azimuths are a thing. The camera will identify the IR source, shoot a back azimuth, analyze the geodata, and send it to a database in < 1 second.

There is no insurrection in Portland unless you consider an uptick of people wearing inflatable frog costumes an insurrection.

No one is falling for this absurd propaganda, and there is NO justification for deploying our troops against peaceful American citizens.

WELKER: Are you looking at invoking the Insurrection Act?

VANCE: We have to remember we are talking about this bc crime has gotten out of control

W: Crime is down in both Chicago & Portland

V: Crime is down bc they are so overwhelmed at the local level they are not even keeping stats properly

Congratulations to all the runners today at the Chicago Marathon!

I hope you’re taking a moment after crossing the finish line and enjoying all that the best big city in the nation has to offer.

Yup. And if you had a question, you either

A) held it till after class
B) went to office hours
C) went to the library and looked it up

There was no playing "stump the chump" with the professor in the middle of a lecture.

Ain't no one got time for that.

This part. It's like their entire idea of college is based off tv shows and movies.

A 100 level class has everyone in it from the gifted to the "dad gifted a donation to get me here"'s, usually 100+ students at a time, often more, and the lecturer has 1 hr.

Questions are what office hours are for.
stemthebleeding.bsky.social
If the lecture notes, practice sets, and homework are all online, and the lecture is in a hall with 300 other students where there is actually no interaction with the class (aka every 100/200 level science class), and 100% of their grade is based on the exams and labs - who freaking cares ?

Dear fellow military pedants eager to point out the S70 and other civilian variants of the Blackhawk, or that it's a light transport helicopter used both in and out of combat -

We're not the target audience.

Kamala Harris: "Here in Chicago I'm told the helicopters that were descending on an American city were Black Hawks. Do you know what Black Hawks were designed to do? War. So I think everyone can draw their conclusions just based on the facts."

REPUBLICANS passed the bill to avoid the shutdown.

0 Democrats voted for it.

Even Fetterman didn't vote for it.

This shit is from 2012 4chan, if not earlier. It might have been as early as UseNet.

Not only do these nazi Simps have no morals, they have no creativity either.

But they're the same people who attack Dems using GOP talking points that were debunked 30 years ago, so it tracks.

"Trump and Mike Johnson are working awfully damn hard to keep a sexual predator's files from being released. Makes you wonder why."
