ICE descends on Maine. "[Gov. Janet] Mills said, ‘Look, Maine knows what good law enforcement looks like because our law enforcement are held to high professional standards.... they don’t wear a mask..., and they don’t arrest people in order to fill a quota.’” abcnews.go.com/US/dhs-launc...

For the record, the judge concluded his order that issued protections with the quote from Reagan.

Adam...phrased that poorly.

I said what I said.

If Black women ever decided to sit this out, the Democratic Party wouldn’t struggle, it would stop functioning.

And yet their leadership is still treated as optional.

When ‘Electability’ Is the Excuse
We say “Black women are the backbone of the Democratic Party.” But there’s also an unspoken rule that comes with it. The praise is fine. The power is not.

The Venn diagram of "people who don't understand the point he's making" and "people whose parents just so happened to move to NYC in the early 90s" is a single circle.

Look my fellow white people - we have NOT lived up to OUR part of the deal.

We gentrified Black Lives Matter, for fucks sake.
My most woke opinion is that integration was a mistake. The problem with Separate But Equal wasn't the Separate part, it was the Equal. Because all things being equal, we woulda been just fine without em
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

This is why Democrats are using the "training" angle, because lots of purple districts may be very anti Trump's ICE, but pro law enforcement and it gives them the space to argue that the problem is that because he reduced their standards and cut their training, they aren't actual law enforcement.
I really need everyone to understand that there are many Democrats in purple districts who do not think they could win reelection or any Democrat could win reelection if they vote against this DHS bill.

"You received all of your tests face down, didn't you?" is one of those classics that never loses its edge.
If you want to shout devastating but technically non-threatening things at ICE, you can say, "you look like your mom chose shitty men to be your step dads." Or "you look like your dad always had an excuse for missing your birthday."

HUGE: With the inaugurations of Governors Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill, Democrats now hold 24 governor’s mansions nationwide, up from 18 held ten years ago.

This also marks the most Democratic women serving as governors at any time in our nation’s history.

Indicted.

Convicted.

Frwe pending appeals (because of Democrats keeping a campaign promise and doing federal police reform)

And voters would've treated him like the next Mandela and elected him anyways.

Democrats indicted him.

Democrats convicted him.

Voters pardoned him for everything.
Something I think about is that if Eileen Canon doesn't get the short straw in the Mar A Lago raid case, Donald Trump is likely indicted before the midterms.

AKA "peeing in the no-peeing section of the public swimming pool and thinking its stayed there."

Because no matter how red or blue your state is and no matter how much your individual vote may or may not matter, your toxicity is contaminating the swing state voters.

And you've monetized it.
i think i figured out what bugs me: the belief that their words both have enough power to sway the Democratic Party and also do NOT have enough power to dissuade anyone from participating in the political process is load-bearing for people

I'm showing my age here, but I IMMEDIATELY thought of that Beavis and Butthead episode where Butthead almost gets taken out by a piece of chicken.

Maybe the Simpsons isn't the only prophetic cartoon out there..
The head of product at "X" and guy most responsible for all the horrible algorithm and feature decisions just got KO'd by a piece of fried chicken.

That's because you don't understand WHY they like Trump:

They get to create 50 stories out of every scandal.

They get the initial scandal, the blatant lie explaining it, the fact check debunking it, then the JD Vance press sacrificial lamb statement, then the fact check debunking that...
This is why I always emphasize that "the media just likes Trump for clicks and ratings" is not accurate. The Jeffrey Epstein scandal is the worst in political history and instead of sensationalizing it, they repeatedly minimize it and downplay it despite massive public interest
public perception says mainstream media is sensationalist, lusts for scandal, will make anything up to sell papers and get clicks etc.,

and then this particular president does like 10 scandals a day and mainstream media insists on describing his actions in the most uninteresting way possible

CA district attorney said almost this exact same thing RE Tara Reade's pathological lying while pretending to be a "expert witness" on stand: she was too incompetent to understand what she was doing was actually a crime.
My favorite part of Judge Novak's ruling on Lindsey Halligan is that basically she's too dumb to disbar.

The only bigger RetCon the left does than Fetterman "always having been a Republican in disguise" is them claiming McConnell was a master at obstructing when he was the minority leader.

Fetterman was Bernie's best buddy during the primary and progressives loved him, and McConnell just filibustered.
There are basically only two ways to deal with recalcitrant conservadem senators like Sinema and Fetterman:

1) Elect more progressive senators to nullify their influence

2) The next Dem president just goes full Pinochet and says: "You will pass this bill, or I'll have you thrown out a helicopter!"

It's not that the problem is with the long term goal, it's that voters are idiots who refuse to give Republicans any agency whatsoever.

So when Dems win both the house and the senate, and Trump vetoes any bill that cuts funding for ICE in any way - whos going to get blamed?

Democrats.
if folks don't like "abolish ICE" for being scary, they are welcome to say "demilitarize immigration". we can make those two hands shake down the line.

White people - .
What is this thing where you demand Black people do jobs for free that you refused to hire them for?

You don't do shit for free. Everything is transactional. Even filing in a circle on a piece of paper must be "earned".

So stop demanding Black people be your free labor.
For the people who are whining that Kamala and Barack aren’t speaking out now….

They literally gave speeches in 2024 accurately predicting everything that’s happening now and you clearly didn’t give a shit. What are they supposed to say now? Shut the fuck up.

There are 3 people you HAVE to win over to remove Trump from office by impeachment

1) Mike Johnson
2) Jim Jordan
3) John Thune

It doesn't matter how many votes in favor you have because they can simply refuse to allow a vote in their respective chambers.

And that's why Trump picked them.
25th amendment is just impeachment with extra work, please stop

When do we start getting the equivalent of blue lives matter/American flag bumper stickers but for journalists whining about their profession being criticized for its pathological need to kiss Trump’s wrinkled ass?
Tweets like this are dumb and bad for many reasons, but one of them is that it conflates media executives with journalists as if that were one united bloc. Even paper boys know this is an insane way to view the media.

Nepotism in journalism is just as dangerous to society as nepotism in government leadership.

Folks, if every last news outlet pulled out all the stops like they did for Biden Old, Trump would be out in a week, tops.

We all know that the media has the power to swift boat anyone they want.

They are choosing not to do this to Trump *because they have been on his side the whole time*.
