Voters decided in 2016 never to have Medicare for All.

That was the choice in 2016.

They allowed Trump to fill the courts with judges who not only don't see healthcare as a right, but who would actually kill Medicare entirely if it comes back in front of their court.

Blame them.

Semi-hot take:

We need a Son of Sam law for journalism.

If you held onto a story for a book that resulted in people dying, you shouldn't be allowed to profit from selling that book.

The proceeds should go to the families who you decided mattered less than your "bombshell" you concealed.

The President doesn't want you standing up and speaking out against him, so he's coming after me to intimidate all of us.

But I won't back down — and neither should you.

I'm torn on this one. And I think it's because we're missing a key piece of information.

"Could he afford to buy the ring she wanted?"

The men in the comments assume the woman wanted a Tiffany ring.

The women in the comments assume the man just ignored her requests on style and cut.

I’m horrified by the news coming out of our nation’s capital today.

Our guardsmen selflessly dedicate themselves to service. This violence cannot be normalized in our country.

Minnesota is sending our love to the families of the service members who were killed.

I mean we already knew they weren't going to get paid, but now?
Exclusive: President Trump has argued with the architect he handpicked to design a White House ballroom over the size of the project, reflecting a conflict between architectural norms and Trump’s grandiose aesthetic.
Trump wants a bigger White House ballroom. His architect disagrees.
The president and James McCrery had argued in recent weeks over the project’s size, with Trump pushing him to expand the ballroom.

The simple reality is both Sotomayer and [checks notes] Clarence Thomas agreed -

Feres is a law in need of correcting by Congress, not ignoring by SCOTUS.

Part of the reason we're in the shit we're in is because we keep trying to work around Congress instead of forcing them to do their jobs.

The U.S. Supreme Court will not review a wrongful death claim brought by the widow of an airman killed while riding his motorcycle home for lunch on a Missouri military base.
Supreme Court rejects consideration of appeal from widow of airman killed on way home
The wrongful death lawsuit was the latest challenge to the Feres doctrine, which holds the government is not liable for some service member injuries.

One of the key issues I see AI needing is bifurcation.

The reality is that 99% of us will never use actual AI.

And 99% of the AI products we will use - aren't.

AI has become little more than a marketing buzzword, and as such has become ripe for abuse by people eager to profit from it.
Neat neat neat, love to watch a supposedly progressive movement be against progress.

Love how every foundational text to leftism, including Marx's own writings, says "technology is how we achieve socialism, communism, post-scarcity", but now some entirely-online anonymous shitposter knows better.

Reminder folks: if you're traveling this weekend, be sure to check the card readers at the gas stations, use tap to pay when you can, and monitor your debit or credit card transactions.

Also, if you're leaving the area and you don't regularly travel, your card MAY get frozen by your bank.

"Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

Gen Mattis' quote applies both to asymmetric battfields AND holiday shopping.
Holy f**k. I forgot what the grocery store is like right before Thanksgiving. It's like an acid trip. People are both pushy and polite, helpful and rude.

While necessary, just understand that you'll never see a single piece of testimony from them, and none of it can be used as evidence.

It'll all be closed doors and classified.

And somehow I get the feeling that the median voter simply won't even understand they're happening unless it's live.

It really is amazing how many people keep trying to "one easy trick" themselves out of the consequences of not voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Not only did she campaign on ending Citizens United, Citizens United was an Anti Clinton PAC from the 1990s.

*shrugs*
If the state of Delaware prohibited companies incorporated there from spending on elections in any way, Citizens United would be dead in the water.

Delaware incorporates more companies than any other state.

It’s a blue state. Let’s get cracking on moving Delaware lawmakers on this!

My daughter and I visited the house we lived in when she was a baby, and she was shocked a 29-year-old Navy guy could afford a nice house in a safe neighborhood.

That wasn’t crazy in 1996 — but today, a nice house is out of reach for so many young people. That has to change.

Saw someone at Walmart tonight with a turkey fryer and peanut oil in their cart perusing the 14 lb frozen turkeys.

I almost wanted to tell them to call ahead and ask the fire department what their favorite pies and sides are so when they come visit they'll at least have something to eat.

I feel like every pie chart is missing a key detail:

Are you making them, or buying them?

And if you're making them, are you using fresh fruit/pumpkin/pecans , or a pre-made filling?
Just FYI:

My most controversial tweet ever, from Thanksgiving three years ago, back when Twitter was Twitter and Bluesky didn’t exist.

_____________

Pies ranked.

1. Cherry (if not too sweet).
2. Mixed berry.
3. Peach/blackberry.
4. Peach.
5. Apple.

9. Key lime.

99. Pecan.

999. Pumpkin.

Tell me you've never mounted your own medals and ribbons without telling me...

Oddly enough this is one of the places where the vernacular used by the navy and Marines actually makes it LESS confusing.

But this walking talking blue DOD decal has no clue because he's never been trusted as a leader.

Two things.

If you've decided that the best thing to do as a social worker is go online and harass/attack other people while LARPing as a 14 year old girl because you think you have the veil of anonymity, you probably need to see a social worker of your own.

Or a therapist.
