You should pitch this for an installment in the Black Christmas franchise.
I think if I still worked in a shop, and was forced to listen to Christmas music all day, every day, between mid-November to the end of December, I would turn homicidal.

Huh! Says the real live wire . . .
I can’t seem to face up to the facts.

I’m tense and nervous and I can’t relax.

Well--we need someone to stand up to the Trolls.
I just saw myself referred to (non-disparagingly) as an "Internet Chaos Goblin" and I have to say I don't hate that description

Well deserved!

I'm looking forward to reading and considering, along with my fellow judges, the works of art and fiction that will be coming in. I've even cleared an entire bookcase! 📚😁📚😉📚

In the end, when I walked from my X account, the waves of racists and bots that were always invoking the same phrases and talking points made it clear that the thing was just a hall of mirrors, that it had been crudely rigged for political fraud. Never thought Musk would admit it all in a self-own.

Hey--it was pre-Code.
Let's celebrate Harpo's birthday with a few views of The Cocoanuts on Broadway!

(Whatever you do, don't go to IBDB and look up Chico's character's name. Just don't.)

That's the work of Jeff Jones so whatever it is it's good.
All these old novels have various objects covering naughty parts, like this one with, um, either a spray of flowers or... maybe a fart cloud?

when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

Sorry to read this. Your post is very instructive for writers who don't have your years of experience. (Signed--a writer who is very proud to have gotten the same form rejection from Ed Ferman a half-century ago.)
Did you read my post from last week about how contract woes caused me to withdraw an accepted story from F&SF, ending my 54-year quest to be published in that magazine? But wait (as the saying goes) — there's more! Scroll down at the link for an update. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Absolutely cannot wait to bust down the doors for a drink made by a company whose unionized workers are on strike in a store that doesn’t want to hire minorities anymore.
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

Warning: Gaines outfitted that bench with a whoopee cushion.
I've decided that the morning after my reading next Tuesday night at Brooklyn Books & Booze, I'm going to wander Riverside Park until I can find and sit on the same bench where MAD Magazine publisher Bill Gaines used to hang out, a landmark dedicated by Dick DeBartolo. youtu.be/o5DDmVs7ikY
