I did a whole reel with about 20 book recommendations on Instagram for books that are Wes Anderson coded. A few examples: Attack of the 50ft Indian which would be stop animation @sgj.bsky.social and the Pallbearers Club @paultremblay.bsky.social with mixed-media visual scene cuts

I wouldn't exactly call this a review, more of a reaction.

But it's quite a reaction.

More fear. More craft. More SGJ doing what only he can do. A little something to go with your leftovers.

Neat/weird: on the endcap of a used bookstore I haunt (Bookworm, Boulder, CO). And, yeah, I bought that X-Man.

Today, let’s reflect on the resilience of Native communities, honor the truths that are too often overlooked, & commit to learning beyond this single day. Gratitude means more when it includes awareness, respect, & responsibility.

Hm. Someone just showed pics of me bobsledding in Utah a few years ago. A thing about which I have 0.0 memory. Guess the last concussion knocked it out of my head. Or maybe the concussion before that. Yet? I still remember the alt ending for The Watcher in the Woods. Who knows. Obviously, not me.

Man, 9x15 of The X-Files, “Jump the Shark.” Back when, I gave up a few eps into this Coy & Vance season. Shouldn’t have.

Me:

Morgan Freeman:
"But he did not remember it, for his brain soon moved on to wonder how cottage cheese gets made."

Ate my first maduras in Miami this weekend—the one that was soft wasn’t great, but the burned ones were (there were four pieces)—so, since they sort of look like big bananas, I’m covered as far as bananas go for … five more years? Hope so. Do not prefer bananas. They make me nervous. Too surprising.

I first heard the dog running away phrase, or something like it, in I Was A Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones. It made me laugh. Relatable.

Later, that book made me cry.

Highly recommend it.
