Diacriticals on consonants make you sound even more exotic.
I’ve been reading Olga Tokarczuk’s DRIVE YOUR PLOW OVER THE BONES OF THE DEAD and was a little startled to see a familiar name pop up in the second chapter, albeit with an extra “sz” thrown into the mix. (As if my surname needed more consonants?) This character is known as “Oddball.” Which is… fair.

In 1804 Napoleon took the diadem from Pope Pius VII and crowned himself emperor of France.

Didn’t end well for him, did it?
This will be remembered as the most pathetic moment in American history. What a needy fool.

Pete Hegseth is a murderer — as are all who choose to follow his illegal orders. I learned the lessons of the Nuremberg Trials back when I was in high school. Why didn't they? "I was only following orders" is no excuse for crimes against humanity. Prosecute them all! www.nytimes.com/2025/12/05/u...

"Content machine"?

I hope Eating the Fantastic has a belch reel to play in response.
If you ever hear me say I want Eating the Fantastic to be "a highly polished, easy to find content machine," you'll know I've lost it, and have my advance permission to put me out of my misery.

I miss The War on Christmas as it was waged at Starbucks. (Because I won't patronize Starbucks.)
Is 'Die Hard' a Christmas movie? Are the lyrics to "Baby, It's Cold Outside" problematic? What else can we rehash this season
I put it to you that Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” is not merely the worst Christmas song but is also in fact the worst song in the history of recorded sound.

My wife has been HIV+ for 34 years. She’s alive today b/c work of activists who destigmatized the virus, pushed medical science to adapt & find ways to treat it, & advocated for gov health programs that helped fund her care. The current U.S. regime may want to go back in time, but we won’t let them.

This administration will never be held accountable, but it’s good to know there are men of honor.
Remember 6 weeks ago when Admiral Alvin Holsey, head of the U.S. military’s southern command, abruptly decided to retire?
Makes me think at least one top-ranking officer knows what a war crime is.

Motives notwithstanding this is becoming a lucrative subindustry--which means it soon will no longer be a SUBindustry.
They want to rehabilitate sex creeps and criminals because of some combination of the following: a) they've got something in their own past they don't want to have bring them down, b) they want the creep prerogatives that used to come with the gig, c) they're just plain sexist motherfuckers
I'm flummoxed by the underground movement to rehab cancelled figures. There's a rumor that a studio head is planning to begin bringing cancelled people back. It's bananas. The industry has contracted, leaving writers, directors and actors scrambling for work and we're making space for sex criminals?

Bang. Well said (sadly).
Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.
