On a Saturday night I stumbled across something on the internet that made me feel like ****** my pants. A giant dataset of real surveillance operations targeting 1000s of people across nearly every country. Unraveling it and the mysterious company behind it has consumed 1.5 years of my life

Thank you, Canada, for leading the world in decency and bravery. I am grateful for all of the support that our armed forces have received from Canadian armed forces throughout history. And I am profoundly sorry that my government does not say this loudly and repeatedly.

An EPA report found that the forever chemical PFNA interferes with human development and likely causes damage to the liver and male reproductive systems.

The agency has sat on the report for months. “Scientifically, it was done,” said one scientist.

Sunday reading:

I wrote about the aggrieved extremist who is currently firing thousands of federal workers and ravaging state capacity based on conspiratorial nonsense - and about mainstream media’s infuriating tendency to sanitize Russell Vought and the regime he serves.

This week’s piece:
We need to talk about Russell Vought – But Properly
Why certain mainstream outlets insist on sanitizing Vought as a devout “small government” conservative – and what actually animates his war against pluralistic democracy

As a law student, I wanted to do criminal defense. I would not have been good at it. I always wonder at the people who represent loathsome individuals at trial, but to do an appeal is a whole other level of commitment.

Would you mind explaining to me how this man managed to find lawyers to appeal his sentence? I don't know anything about the French justice system. Do they appoint lawyers for appeals? He's unemployed. How does he pay for lawyers?

A life update: this wound up paying off. I'm still applying to several jobs that are hopefully careers, but I've got my survival needs covered by a job at the airport that I'm apparently pretty good at.

And instead of being in an office alone, which was driving me mad, I see 20k people a day.

There is a line around this building to get to the line entrance to wait to get into this job fair.

At the airport. For airport jobs.

Whoa! The shutdown’s ripple effect starting to hit.

Burbank Airport in LA County has no air traffic controllers on duty due to sick calls, last-minute day-off requests, and staffing shortages.

If you’re flying anywhere in the country, check for delays.

I believe this wholeheartedly.
