Oliver Postage (creator of Bagpuss, Clangers etc) was raised a pacifist and was jailed by the British government for refusing to fight in WW2.
IIRC, The Quaker movement is a pacifist belief and all Quakers would refuse conscription.

That absolutely is NOT true. The Christians who burned down the Library of Alexandria subjugated the ancient world and dominated them for over 1500 years. Josef Stalin dominated Russia for his entire life with no consequences. Many Nazis were brought over to America after WW2

Yeah the vast majority of patriots are harmless morons with silly traditions and beliefs they don't quite understand why they hold them but they do because they've never questioned it... or they say ignorant shit like "we won you WW2"
Its funny until we get to the dangerous nationalists

Japan would rather write a 100 times the same book about middle-aged librarians and cats than face its WW2 crimes 🙈

It is possible the Reagan myth springs from his performance
in "Desperate Journey" (1942), a better than average WW2 'US propaganda' movie.
As a leather-jacketed Bomb Aimer in a RAF squadron (!),
Reagan sassed the Nazi interrogators much like Col. Hogan vs Col Klinck in '60s TV.

@whitehouse-47.bsky.social you do remember that the fascists were the *bad* guys during WW2, right? We fought a whole war about that, and antifa (you know, all the Allied soldiers) won that war. The “America First” crew wanted to appease and/or ally with the fascists. Surely you don’t want that.

Hey, we would have your back.
And seend in the Finns ASAP.
We remember what you were up to during ww2. There was a reason Polish units were put under Canadian command.
With Kegseth it would probably end like in 1812, only this time Chicago may want to defect to Canada ASAP.

A conversation with my 92yr old Dad this morning about the No Kings protests today and the danger of protesting. He worried about me getting trampled or worse. I explained that if we don't stop this regime now they will come for all of us next. Being a child during WW2 he knew exactly what I meant.

When is it okay for adult males to say black people should be put in gas chambers?
All sounds very like fascism but the USA in WW2 was the embodiment of Anti-Fascism.
So are GOP males are no longer anti-fascists? Where does that leave them.

Yes, the WW2 Royal Navy had stokers, in submarines as well as surface ships. Stoker was a rate not a rank. I think the survivor in this case was a Leading Stoker.

18 Oct 1944 // Minesweeper HMAS Geelong sank after colliding with American tanker York off Langemak, New Guinea. It was dark (around 9pm), both ships had dimmed lights, and neither saw the other. York's boats picked up all Geelong's crew before she sank. #RoyalAustralianNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory

We fought fascism before and won. It's sad that so many Americans seemed to have forgotten this. Don't most of us have parents, grandparents, or great grandparents who fought in WW2? Doesn't this get taught in schools??? It's called history.

I agree, they must be eliminated - like Germany after WW2. We have the first amendment, but there must be a level of responsibility attached to it - like, you can't yell Fire in a crowded theater... (Iroquois Theater - Chicago - 1903)
